Dyzan's lair

Kalabrax has cast Xena into a deep cavern in the earth. As Xena stumbles to her feet, she sees that she is close to one of the Gates of Hades. Unfortunately, this particular gate is guarded by the powerful Dyzan, and he is not happy to see her...

Sketch: Since Kalabrax has locked Xena beneath the surface of the earth, Xena needs to get through this Gate of Hades to find a way out. The dragon guard Dyzan might seem very hard to defeat, but once you know what to do, he is very easy. When he is resting beneath a stalactite hanging from the ceiling, Xena must hit it with the Chakram to crush Dyzan.

Important note: This level does not have any health power-ups. But you don't really need them as long as you jump over the lava pools and avoid Dyzan. Set the default move to "Run" in the Options screen to make things easier.

Walkthrough: Pick up scroll#1 and scroll#2 from the ground. Now get ready to outwit Dyzan, the huge dragon now approaching and the only enemy in this level.

Do not even try fighting moves or Chakram shots directly at Dyzan. As you would have read on one of the scrolls, your attention should fix on the ceiling, from where you'll see several huge stalactites (=rocks, sharp and pointy at the bottom) hanging. For the moment, keep running around the platform to get away from Dyzan who spits heavy gusts of fire. Watch out for the shallow lava pools which slightly damage your health by toasting Xena. Just jump over them. As per the advice on the other scroll, wait until the moment Dyzan stops following you to absorb heat from one of the lava pools. Most of the pools have a stalactite above them, so when Dyzan is busy, turn around quickly and fire your Chakram toward the stalactite. If you've done well, it will crush Dyzan and reduce about one third of his health bar. Repeat this move once or twice to get rid of Dyzan forever! But remember that you have to be quick dumping that stalactite. If you're a bit too late, the rock will fall but miss pesky Dyzan.

Here's a tip which might be useful. When you are running with Dyzan on your heels, make sure Xena faces the camera and runs towards you, the player. This was easier for me while turning around and firing the Chakram at the stalactite. Otherwise, you'll have to press R1 all over again and turn with the directional buttons (or left stick) to see things in Xena's perspective. Aiming and firing the Chakram after all this will probably cost too much time.
