September 7, 2001 Kindred Events -Queen Anne of London celebrates her deathday; there are literally millions of dollars spent on the festivities. Anyone who is anyone is there, and the few violent occurrences are dealt with quietly. Members of both major sects are these, and, surprisingly, are on their best behaviour. Sasha Vykos brought the most memorable gift, the head of a methuselah ornated with rare babbles, and writing from a Noddist tablet. -Lawrence Pacterquin has been sighted...in London. He and Victoria Butler were apparently present for Queen Anne's deathday. Major News Events -Half-a-dozen women have been arrested for suspected drug trafficking and prostitution. While normally insignificant, these women were all members of the social elite. Their families are horrified, and several are pressing charges for police harassment. -Local high schools are holding sexual education night courses. Over half of the courses have filled up entirely. -Triumph's Edge, a local band, has signed on with a major label. They are known for their song "Hurt the Old = Kill the Young" September 14, 2001 Kindred Events -The Primogen council has begun to receive recommendations for what areas of Guelph should be claimed by whom. -Tina Estraile has issued a decree as Keeper of Elysium; there will be no feeding within a ten-minute walk of the area to reduce the chances of a Masquerade breech. Major News Events -Guelphites are still recovering from the shock of the World Trade Centre Bombings. The University of Guelph has held two candle light ceremonies, each of which has been attended by over 2000 students and members of the public. -There are several new laws that are being proposed that will give the police a greater amount of leeway for dealing with potential terrorist occurrences. The police, and most members of the public are agreeing that these new methods should be implemented, though there are several leading intellectuals that are questioning the necessity for them. -The federal government is considering a bill that will begin to deregulate welfare; apparently corporations will bid to take on current participants in the program and receive money for each recipient that finds full time work. September 21 Kindred Events -Hamilton has nearly seen a massive breech of the Masquerade. In Elysium several recognised members of the Sabbat arrived to speak with the primogen. After several hours of talks, it was decided that the Camarilla would use some of its influence to cover up a breech, and in return the Sabbat bishop in the area would owe a major boon towards several members of the primogen. -Nicholas Savich has demanded to know why the Sheriff was unable to locate the Sabbat members prior to their arrival at Elysium. He furthermore demanded that Mafristo either gather enough deputies to allow him to accomplish his job or step down. Major News Events -Sleeman's has announced that it will be hiring several hundred more workers, assuming that city council gives it permission to increase the size of its current facilities. -Incremental weather has resulted in minor flooding in the outlying areas of Guelph. Insurance agents are placing the damage at over three million dollars. Also, some environmentalists have begun to worry what the waterfall might do to the local soil near the Corren Construction site, the company that has practically razed the outlying forest to build areas for commercial usage. September 28 Kindred Events -Katie Hall has officially protested about the lack of a scourge. She asks that Finbar return to his old station as scourge, and have her replace him on the Primogen council, to allow for better representation for her clan. -Sabrina McLean is suspected of attacking a pair of youth downtown this week, demonstrating her Kindred abilities to them. The primogen council has ordered Mafristo to determine the veracity of this allegation. Major News Events -The provincial government has allocated several million dollars to Guelph for the purpose of constructing several new governmental buildings; they are planning on opening several department of health research facilities near the University of Guelph. -Several members of the Black Panthers have taken up residence in Guelph. They are just planning on "settling in" or so they tell reporters. -Members of the Asian community are presenting the city with a massive donation in the form of clothes and canned foods in thanks of all it has done to help low income members of its community. |
