BRECHIN
Once upon a time there was a native girl with hair as silver as the moon in winter, and as pretty as the moon too. She loved the creatures of the forest. Her name was Trika, as she was a cunning trickster. One moonlit nights she would go into the crystal clear lake, and summon her powers of protection and beauty. The moon was like a tribal god, muchly sacred and worshipped. She protected the animals from the sailors on a nearby pirates' ship. The men from the ship hated her for what she did, after all, they needed food and supplies from the "beasts" as they called them. All but the captain, who was fascinated by the tribal girl.
Captain Lombard, was a dashing pirate captain, good looking and his pirate crew respected him. Unlike his shipmates, he was intrigues by this moon girl. He wanted to find out more about her. He still had a lust for treasure and rare beasts, though, and that is what proved different from his world and hers. The Captain counted his dubloons every day, a waited patiently for his chance to get the biggest treasure of all...the Haken's egg! Worth a fortune in golden dubloons-if only he could get his hands on it!
The Captain banged his fists on the table. What a fine mess this was! The greatest egg, right in the palm of his hands, and he couldn't find it! He knew it was on the island SOMEWHERE. Besides, even if he DID find it, he wouldn't be able to get it past that blasted Haken mother! But then, an idea popped into his head. The girl MUST know where it is! I shall find her and follow her there, and while she distracts the dragon I will take it! She can sail away with me and everything will work out right! Captain Lombard chuckled for a minute, obviously content with his plan.
An hour later, Trika looked at the moon in the sky and sighed. It is almost feeding time for the Haken. I must go see how the egg is doing...oh, I can't wait to see it when it hatches! What a pretty one it will be! She grabbed her wooden staff and hurried off into the woods, little did she know that someone was following her.
