One night, Brechin was walking through the forest. He Was practicing his ultimate power of Amazon, not for bad or good use, but just to practice. He felt he had to practice daily, or his power would become useless. The Trees bent over at his feet, and flowers moved out of the way, and it pleased Brechin very much...he felt like he was number one when he did this, and no other Haken could compare. As you can tell, Brechin had become just a little arrogant since his "famous" captain rescue when he saved his bondmate, Trika, from being killed by a savage pirate seeking revenge. Everyone had been treating him very special, and it really wasn't helping his ego. But little did he know, that one day, he wouldn't be the number one Haken around the forest.
While he was out "hopping", his bondmate's cousin, Megara, was visiting . They were having a chat all about Brechin, and how he saved Trika's life with his powers of magic, and Megara sighed. She wished she had a Haken to love and watch over, and then be watched over by it. Brechin was such a handsome Haken and she was a little jealous that she didn't have a Haken to brag about herself. 'Oh, I wish she'd stop making it worse...' thought Megara. She sighed again and wondered if she Would ever in her life own a Haken.
Back in the dark forest, as Brechin was making the weeds part (with his head held high as if he were a king), he accidently discovered a secret nest and found the most extraordinarily beautiful egg. It appeared to have been abandoned, so Brechin used his powers of Amazon to help bring the egg back to Trika, who would find something to do with it. After all, he was the Only Haken in this area and he didn't want that to change! He bounded swiftly through the forest and the egg was passed from tree limb to tree limb, ever so carefully. The egg had looked so beautiful, sitting there in the moonlight that he had to bring it back. He would have destroyed it, but something felt wrong about doing so. As he finally reached the two girls sitting there, he fell over from exhaustion. He was obviously very tired from his long journey. Trika ran to fetch him some water and then brought him some food also. As he was resting up, his power of Amazon was also tiring and so he stopped. The egg fell from the tree right into Trika's arms!
Trika looked up, startled that a magnificent egg had just fallen from the heavens (so she thought). Brechin was too tired to try to explain how it got there so there was no explanation other than that. Megara stared in wonder at the scene. 'Was this how you got a Haken egg?' She wondered. Maybe If she prayed hard enough, one would get sent to her also! She looked up to the skies, shut her eyes, and secretly prayed. As soon as Trika got over her confusion and figured out what Megara was doing, she smiled. "Here." She said happily to her cousin with a slight giggle. "You deserve this beautiful egg more than I do...I mean, I already have a Haken, and it would be good for you to have one also. Just remember to take good care of it or it will not hatch-but wait! It needs a name! What will you name it, Megara?"
Megara took the egg astonishingly. She had not expected all of this, but to her own surprise, she had gotten her wish. She looked at the beautiful egg, and then up at the night sky. She sighed happily. "I will name her Celeste, since you were sent to me from the heavenly skies above." (she assumed it was a female, for no apparent reason). She looked up at the stars again, just as a comet sailed through the sky. She smiled and got up to leave. She carried her newfound egg home, and made sure to hold on to it tightly, so as not to drop it. She would do whatever it took to raise her Haken right...when she got back to the comfort of her home, she fell fast asleep, holding the beautiful creature in her arms, and dreaming the night away.. |
