In accordance with the "here
is me, here is my cat" theory of web pages put forth by some
guy at the Institute of Communications
Studies at the University of Leeds:
This is what I look like. That is my beloved cat Patches, who recently passed away. On a good day my skin isn't so shiny and Patches' eyes weren't always so alien-glowing-green. These pictures were taken in Patches' vacation home in south Florida. I'm a graduate of George Washington University with a degree in East Asian studies. May the kami rain down goodwill upon the entire department. I work at the Henry L. Stimson Center as a research assistant in the China Program. (we have a new website!!!) I spend most of my time dealing with X-Strait stuff. Who is Yakub Beg? I write poems. Read some here. Look at my resume! |

I've finished all my graduate applications. Hooray. Now I sit here and wait while I go into dept from all the application and testing fees.
Yikes, well....
- Patches passed away. I miss her dearly and feel grateful to have shared my life with another living creature that lived such a happy full life. Patches was an excellent bird catcher and a loving friend. I miss having animals and am hoping to cohabit with an avian friend...
- I spent a kick-ass three weeks in Spain, Portuagal and Morocco in the company of some of my most favorite people.
- I'm applying to graduate programs in anthropology--I mean poetry--I mean linguistics--I mean psychology--I mean anthropology. Yes, anthropology. Hooray for Nathaniel Tarn and Jerome Rothenberg!
- The book is out as of yesterday!
- I've started a wee magazine!
- I went to southern Maryland and hung out with more of my favorite people, enjoyed fall weather, and disovered am allergic to something, but have no idea what.
- The NMD project at work is at last rolling. Look for me in the papers, or at least on a new Stimson Center website which should be all up and running and pretty come spring!
- I discovered that I like Philladelphia. It feels like a city in a way DC doesn't, even though it is. Archetecture.
- I'm frustrated with discourse. If I lived somewhere larger I would throw large parties, or at least have people over for dinner.
After watching Nosferatu I
realize there is an uncanny similarity between the rock
hyrax and Count Orlock:
I hope they pospone the decision of what to sell Taiwan until a little later...June? Just say we're sorry. God, the US blatently spys on the PRC and can't even apologize. Ach.
Oh yeah and I'm giving a poetry reading this evening. Wish me luck.

Check
out how cool Charlie and Mom are! They're the ones behind the stage on
the right side of the photo in the first row. Look for two people with
red and white shirts respectively! (This photo is from AP by Alan Diaz,
with the caption "U2 plays during the opening night of the band's Elevation
Tour 2001, in Sunrise, Fla., Saturday, March 24, 2001.")
We got the grant!!! Hooray, another three months of pay! We're going to save the world. Uh...
It's cold in DC....still....
My brother became a quarter of a century old on February 9th! Happy Birthday to him!
Uh...I finished the evil grant proposal at work and took an advanced
level street jam class last night...
Read the crappy article from encyclopedia
Britannica.
