In order to both combat Eckhart's minions and to contain the threat posed by renegade mutants, Adam recruits four New Mutants, each representing a unique type of mutation - feral, elemental, psionic and freak - to act as superheroes for the New Mutant world. They are rich boy Jesse, who can become as dense as a brick wall, or disintegrate for as long as he can hold his breath; territorial Shalimar, with feline DNA; ex-thief Brennan, capable of generating electrical blasts; and girl next door Emma, a "telempath" who can read other people's thoughts and feelings. Mutant X Lives. |
Somewhere, sometime... The work of a highly secretive organisation, GenomeX, dealing in the genetic engineering of sick and dying children, has spawned a few surprises. They are New Mutants, capable of wielding immense, superhuman power, but now hunted down by the very people who made them. One of the original scientists at GenomeX, a highly intelligent and very rich man known only as Adam, has set up the Mutant Underground to spirit the children of GenomeX away from the clutches of the Genetic Security Agency, headed by Adam's one-time friend, GenomeX security chief Mason Eckhart. |

Update: After season one of Mutant X, Tom's commitments to star in Richard III and The Threepenny Opera at the Stratford Festival prevented him from being a regular cast member in the next season. However, he was able to appear in the Season Two episodes Final Judgement, Reality Check, and Lest He Become. He also appeared in the Season Three opener Into The Moonless Night, which Tom believes is probably his last outing as Mason Eckhart. |
Since Season One, Mutant X has also faced changes in cast and crew, resulting in a markedly different show. For further information on the current face of the show, please check out the official site, and leading fansite PureMX: |
