The Yorkie.............
The Yorkshire Terrier is a charming dog. He is intelligent, full of courage, loyal and loves affection. The Yorkie even though he is small in size still has the true Terrier Temperament. Yorkies think they are much bigger than they are.They will defend their territory. They will not fail to announce strangers.
They can be bossy and scrappy with other dogs.
The Yorkie is fragile. A person can seriously injure or kill a Yorkie by stepping or sitting on him. Yorkies can also injure or kill themselves by leaping from your arms or from high areas. A larger dog can grab the Yorkie and break his neck with a shake. Constant supervision of what's going on around your dog is a must. You should always keep your Yorkie on a leash as they have chasing instinicts and will go after anything that moves. These dogs are not suited for children.
The Yorkie needs a great deal of companionship and affection. They do not like to be left alone. You need to provide enough socializing with people, other dogs and different sights and sounds. |
