(This is not an official government site)
Over four million visitors arrive in Yosemite National Park every year.  This number of people is larger than most urban cities.  Just like urban cities there is crime.  Yosemite Holding Facility was built in the early 70's to house those arrested in Yosemite National Park.  This facility can house up to 22 inmates and is fully staffed.   Last year, we  booked 335 arrestees, down from a year high of 846 which occurred in 1993.  There also is a Magistrate Courthouse located in Yosemite Valley.  For the history of Yosemite National Park, Click here.
