| 2004(Cont.): 3rd May Electric Eel Shock; Southampton Joiners Antiproduct and Careless Support Careless came onto support first and from the graffiti still in the gents (The place was apparently 'refurbished'...all i noticed was a new lick of paint and the stickers and posters on the mid region crossbeam were gone... the large hole in one wall was still there!! but hey) and whoever saw them before obviously wasnt impressed, but I thought these guys were pretty good. Punk-Rock I'd say, but then everyone classifies music differently (some people even call slipknot music), so if i think of a band they're like i'l let type it up... its a bit like Alkaline Trio's song stupid Kid, Punk yet lively...but yeah. Then came Antiproduct... like the get ups. Wondered why UV lamps were being set up, but it all became clear. They were good too, although not really my thing. If you visit antiproduct.com, you'll find a few free downloadable tracks, you'll see from 'Lets get it on', and 'Psychadelic Girlfriend' their music style, Its not look at me shout, the guy can actually kinda sing, and the music reminds me a bit of the off-beat rifts the Vines put out, so that was good (See my next gig entry when it appears(appeared 16th May)). Then came Electric Eel Shock and a drummer wearing just a sock and a short T-shirt. Anyone old enough will get what i mean, and the rest of you guys needn't worry! But these Tokyo guys were really Rock'n'Roll... good stage presence in the boot, and anything Japanese has that added cool factor hey :). But yeah, a really great set from these guys, thoroughly enjoyed it. Got the CD, and 'Rock 'n' Roll Can Rescue The World' is quickly climbing up my iTunes most played list, with 'Japanese Meets Chinese in the USA' and 'Do The Metal'. Go out...or infact stay in, and order these guys Go Europe! album. 12th May The Vines; Southampton Guildhall Well, Firstly a slight appology for the length of my last gig entry, slight cos i dont owe you bar-stools a thing! but yeah :)...damn you sophie!(for the phrase 'but yeah') ... achem. The vines. Was another really cool gig, kicking off with Outtathaway, great song, the set i think wasnt too well planned, they went from a high energy song to a mellow number each time, and ok, after a few of the songs you need a rest, one after each high energy song tends to mellow things. But they're all good songs. Set was shorter than most, but the encore bucked the trend of their mellow set pumping out high energy songs one after another. Maybe i'm greatful for the rests in the set, but hey. I'm not that old... 2nd June Tsunami Bomb; Southampton Joiners Not Katies support Well, I was very pleased upon arriving to see Not Katies merchandise up for sale (Usually a good indicator that a bands present), and so possibly showed a little bit more disintrest in the 1st support than they may have deserved as I waited for the Not Katies to show. It was good to see the crowed with the same enthusiasm as they had when they were headlining at the venue. Infact some guys had travelled from Liverpool to see them... tad extream I feel, going they're going to two of their sets up north yonder too. But hey. I'm sure they were just pleased to get away from the north for a day or two. all good. This was part of Tsunami Bomb's first UK headlining tour, and yes she is cute in person. Always the first question asked :P but yeah, I'm really running out of phrases to describe bands and their sets... so, gonna keep it simple, good music, good atmosphere, good gig :) Worth going to see. 4th June InME; Bournemouth BIC Save Ourselves and X-posed Support Hey, I told you I was running out of things to say (15 gigs this year guys... and its only just June, so Soph's gonna write a little guest piece for you guys to enjoy) [Im adding snide remarks too] |

| Well, as Mike [Even she wont call me Mikey *sniff*] put it, yet another gig with the misses... beginning to | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| make this a bad habit, guess that's why I've ended up writing the review. But yeah, InME, first day of the hols for him [Woo!!] some of us were still up to our necks in revision and exams but either way this gig proved to be a good use of time [by "gig" she obviously means spending time with me]. Save Ourselves came and went in a blur of water bottles (more of that in a mo) but i vaguely remember X-posed being half decent, probably worthy of your curisoity [This gig was in a different part of the BIC to Muse and Feeder, and so we had to wait in bar area 'til I'd finished my pint (sophie was kind enough to help) before we could go in, missed most of Save Ourselves set]. So back to the water bottles... personally I [she ment I've] never seen a problem with some harmless wet fun [No comment], but the security blokes seemed to think otherwise to a full-on water bottle hurling fight style thing. No-one was safe, even those who supposedly had a bloke to look after them, tsk... men are hopeless [ *sniff* ] :P [better]. Pretty much everyone ended up getting wet, or being hit on the head with a bottle, and if you were lucky, both! So once security had returned law and order (the fact it was a rock gig and things were going to get a lot worse didn't seem to feature) InME appeared and much crowd surfing was endured: fat people shouldn't be allowed!!!!! [she has a thing about fat people, ironic i think :P hehe.. :| please dont hurt me hun] or if they must, steel neck braces should be provided!!!! [would have prevented a sweet blow to the back of her neck from a fella passing overhead that sent her floor-wards] But despite that, and the occasional dead leg (I still have the bruise to prove it) [and one on her bosom, I wish i knew which basterd punched her there!!] good fun was had by all, and it would definatly be worth to dig out some of their music [yes, that was poor grammer again]... or get some sent to you... but either's good. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
