< Endangered Languages > Has the world gone mad seems a daily question When new research sheds light on endangered languages Now was there really any need to mention? A language is lost to the world every two weeks? At this the mind races Is this a cause for concern? Is that such a misfortune? If we try and save them now, how will we ever erase French?

< Las Vegas - "The Strip"> With a pocket of notes, and the limo waiting, It’s a matter of fatigue as you set of for the eve. Driving down an illuminecent stretch of road, cruising These sights you can hardly hope to conceive No newspapers line the streets, just call-cards, ladies waiting Not a place for children, for the naïve You call to the driver and up to the sidewalk you pull-in You exit and though the street a line to the casinos cleave Immersed in the atmosphere, the sights, smells, sounds of winning You sit at the tables, $100 minimum; guess this is your only reprieve The night blurs past, drinking, gambling, Every moment hidden from the outside, a plan to deceive There are no clocks, no windows, no way of knowing Guess it doesn’t matter now anyway, you may as well not leave Your flight left two days ago, let’s hope you book another before you start losing

All these poems helped me to submit the 50th Poem to Mr Ederic's Site and secure my place in Ederic History as the receiver of the cookie. In honour of this the following jubilant poem was written

< Soon I’ll Get My Cookie > Soon I’ll Get My Cookie When I next meet Mr Ederic With chocolate chips all soft and gooey Though do I trust him to not lace it with arsenic? Hmm... with my craving this may be tricky Why do u test me so Mr Ederic!

My Troubled Mind

Why am I always left alone before my mind's released of pain, I get scared, and the fire within will smoulder, I step back to breathe away from choking smoke, free once again You reasure. A hand placed on my shoulder You steady me The world grows dark as the bandages rise, Around my eyes you tie it closed, To trust in you, to give my all. For you to be my eyes We start to walk, side by side, hand in hand You steady me The path grows steep with troubles on my mind, Preocupied with what I imagine on horisons vast, The things this trail will leave behind and so it crumbles around my feet. You lunge your arm for me to grasp. You steady me Still I find I ask question of my mind, and drag you along, But weary from the trail the certainty drains from your feet. When next I stumble and start to fall I realise the safetys gone, And not once more will you answer with a smile to greet. You steadied me You steadied me, but noone's here for me now, This new year seemed to show such promise from the last But as freely as breathe these troubled thoughts to me, inevitably endow My actions then, I'm not surprised when you cant stand by steadfast I bring this on myself I rip the blindfold off and once more I find this cycles turned, and once more I find I stand alone, and once more I find I'm shunned and spurned, and once more, once more I fail to atone I brought this on myself Kneeling down I raise my head, staring blindly at the sun. You carried me high, but now I need to find my feet, I have to leave this place, leave an once more lifes race I run Though I just stagger round, following the crowd. Who is it I hope to meet? I bring this on myself My sense of humour twisted still, I carry on, it keeps me sain I laugh away these troubled days, and drink away the weary night I dont know when the time is right, when I'l think no more of the pain When with anothereach morn' embrace, and again the smouldered fire will alite But will I bring it on myself again
