Random Thoughts & Non-random Beliefs

  • I started developing some interest in history because:
    1) wanted to understand why & how some things became the way they are now, and
    2) allows me to see more of the reality of human nature and existence in this world.
  •

  • I also started to develop some interest in accounting becuz:
    1) it's a very good tool for evil... but still has its importance
    2) only the record keeping, budgeting, management aspects
which is why I chose CMA..... as opposed to CGA or CA
  • I used to not like Coopers. But after I saw Alpine's demo car, I began thinking that Coopers can actually look really neat with a good paintjob, nice shoes, etc.
But actually, can you say that about any car??

  • People have suggested that those who speak in support of homosexual lifestyles are not pushing for equality, but for special privilege.
Why don't we balance things out by having an annual Straight Pride Day.
  • I think it is important that there be free exchange of information and ideas. Things will be more efficient that way.
At the same time, however, we need to be careful not to be too proud of ourselves and forget the possibility that there could be higher powers which are beyond us.
  •

  • My brain is like an extremely efficient warehouse.
The only thing is that there is a bug in the system.
  • If absolute truth exists, EVERYBODY will have to face it sooner or later.
Shouldn't we, therefore, give it some thought? Otherwise, we won't know what the heck it is that we are going to face.
  •

  • Horoscopes are funny in a way. I mean, isn't it common sense to "stay focused on the job at hand" and "try not to get into conflict with your friends and family"?? If these are habits that are practiced everyday then of course life will go smoother!
  • No human person, no matter how much ability he thinks he possesses, has been able to initiate his own birth or create anything in this planet.
He did not create pianos or computers. He did not create any living thing. And he did not create time and space. He did not even create or evolve for himself his own intelligence!

  • I'm against homosexuality - not homosexuals. I believe homosexuality is a complex topic; it is more than just about two people of the same gender being happy together and doing their own thing while not hurting anybody. While I have never read any articles from the social scientists, I have my suspicions that such acts as changing the definition of marriage and hard-selling homosexuality in school to children of very young age will lead to significant consequences of a wide scope taking place by the time those children become parents.

There just might be significant sociological consequences for imposing artificial changes such as this.

As a Catholic, I do wonder what the Vatican has to say. It is not an official doctrinal stance; nonetheless it is an expression from a learned social scientific (ie: theology) point of view.

  • You should listen to your parents but they should listen to you as well.
People who are older than you have more experience in life but it doesn't mean they know everything.
  •

  • It's amazing what engineering feats have been accomplished by ancient peoples.
Who's smarter, the person who uses a basic electronic calculator, or the person who uses something less primative like an abacus?
We want convenience and so we develop technologies. We end up falling slaves to it.
  • What would it be like after I die... what would I see or feel? How would it be like not to be limited by time and space... how would the environment around me be different?
It sure gives me the creeps...
  •

  • The three reasons why I send my children to school are: 1) they learn basic social skills and make friends, 2) learn basic knowledge and thinking skills around such subjects as math, sciences, languages, art and physical education , and 3) I don't have time to teach them myself.
With that being said, I do not appreciate nor have I given you my consent to educate my children on such debatable and alternative topics as homosexuality and safe sex.
As for discipline, parents & teachers must work together. The media can be so influential.
  • With religion and morals aside, pornography is simply a waste of time. You view it and get a short while of satisfaction. Then you want more and you look at it again. And again. And so on. But you're not really getting any satisfaction from it so what's the point?? You're not touching anything; it's all in your head!!
Anyway it's damaging to the dignity of women.
  •

  • It is both funny and sad that while western people are busy making all sorts of noise in criticizing the Church, there exists priests and other religious missionaries in places like Africa where they are faced with persecution every single day. They are not thinking about sex and scandals; they are thinking about whether they will live to see the next day.
  • James Bond is only a fantasy; I'm real.
  •

  • There will always be some sort of inefficiency or bad thing in this world. And yet, I am reminded that this life on earth is only temporary. Therefore, I should not need to be so hung up on little insignificant things. Yes, they do have their importance with respect to this plane of existence... but maybe there are things that are even more important??
What happens if Adolf Hitler was born in another time and place? Or intellectual greats like Da Vinci were born in modern times? Or maybe there were potentially great people who never got to make history because they were burned at the stake for their nonconventional ideas, suffered extreme poverty, or lost their ideas and works by accidents perhaps or jealous individuals.
  • One must not be so quick to judge and blame a person who commits suicide or murder. An otherwise very kind person may have made the mistake of thinking one-sidedly too much and got the wrong thoughts right into the roots of his mind. It is not necessarily because the person has some kind of mental illness; the problematic actions may have been triggered by a series of events or a long-running accumulative effect from the social and/or physical environment which has overpowered the individual's ability to resist temptation and exercise prudent judgement. Maybe he simply did not have anybody to talk to.
In any case, a person who is about to commit suicide must be very lonely and lost.
  •

  • If you can change the definition of marriage, you can also destroy marriage altogether. You could marry your own sister if you wanted...(just don't have kids!). You could marry your own mother. Polygamy can be practiced freely. Divorce won't matter...because there'd be no such thing as marriage in the first place. On going and life-long group activities and swinging can be practiced as much as desired. Et cetera.

For centuries, we have been brainwashed into thinking that marriage must happen. But does it have to be? [just a thought]
Of course formal union must happen. With religion aside, union between the guy and the girl should be recognized and should be maintained... for at least social and psychological purposes.

  • I save money on some things so that I can use it to absorb any careless wasting on other things.
  •

  • Schools are part of the "real world", students just didn't see it.
I usually love to spend time outside of home. I'm not exactly into hanging out at home watching tv and doing gardening or something like that. I love to expose myself to the world and let the world be exposed to me. A special example of this is the internet. For me, it is another way of reaching out.
  • If $2000 is the penalty for sharing popular song, and a thousand people were caught, that's already $2M. Do record companies really make that much on that one song?
  •

  • I wonder how romance novel authors view their own marriages and love lives.
  • The earth continues to spin. Anything that can be changed will change.
This does not mean absolute truth will change. Ok?
  •

  • If a gay couple adopts a child, can that child later on sue the adopted parents? Maybe the child wanted to be raised by heterosexuals.
  • Is homosexuality a born trait? Or are some individuals born with a psychology that is more likely to lead to homosexual behavior? People like Charles Manson or Timothy McVeigh or Adolf Hitler were probably not born twisted; the environment in which they were brought up in (including all interactions with people) just made them become the way they ended up.
  •

  • To deal effectively with unusual people or unusual events, you might need unusual tactics. Be innovative, be creative!
  • QUESTIONS:

  • Does Queen Elizabeth support homosexuality?
  • Am I allowed to say, "I hate being gay."? Or how about, "I only want to be straight. And only straight. I do not want to be anything else but straight."?
  • Isn't "hatred" a matter of personal opinion?
  • I often ask myself, Why do I keep on supporting C-250 and its advocates with my tax dollars? [Mt.22:21]
  • Are email discussion groups considered "public"?
  • Maybe there is a psychological effect on the child both of whose parents are of the same gender. And maybe the effect is bigger if the parents were female, compared to if they were both male.
  • It is the natural desire of a child to receive a mother's love. Can a male be an equivalent substitute?
  •

  • Earlier on Sept06-2004 evening after I came back home from our "Chan Family Reunion" Labour Day Weekend stay at Seattle Fairmont Olympic Hotel I told my dad & mom, "Ok, the dream has come to an end. Now we're back to reality."

I really did feel that way.

  • Inside politics don't necessarily have to happen. It's not like it's written in our genes!
  •

  • It seems that, besides having good view of downtown Vancouver, there's nothing special about the British Properties. Yeh, it's where the rich people reside, boosting land value... but all that's simply because of a good view...
  • I think fines, jail and death sentences are not really solutions to crime-fighting. They may slow down would-be criminals or separate the offender from the bulk of society, but they don't tackle the real problem. The real problem is not the crime itself. The real problem is why the criminal did what he did, and what happened to him that caused him to become what he is.
  •

  • The world continues to spin and life moves on.
  • This will sound heartless but.... despite my dad's carefulness and pickiness in eating and exercise, I just feel that he will go before my mom... even though my mom will eat almost anything. I would like both of them to go together at the same time so that one doesn't have to be sad without the other, but it seems more realistic for one of them to go first. And I feel it would be my dad for some reason. My mom is physically weaker but she has a more pure heart and a very strong will. Also her motherly love drives her on.

  • Recently I heard of some kind of service centre or something like that for citizens with homosexual tendencies. I wonder what kind of special services or goods they need that heterosexuals don't. Or do the politicians simply want to win popularity points?
There are more economically challenged citizens than there are pro-homosexual citizens; why don't we spend the money to help those and win their votes?
  • I hope I'm not cursing myself but... Why do I feel I will die in my 50's? It seems I am not the type of person who will live to ripe old age of 90 or something.
But then of course that's not necessarily true.

But then if I was to ever be the victim of a bad accident or gunshot or cancer or something, my recovery may depend on my will to live. Do I have such a will?

  •

  • Display huge poverty posters across the street from those ungrateful union job action protestors.
  • I wonder how many Popes I'm going to see in my life?
  •

  • If I should not judge people.. then can I assess, evaluate or describe them?
  • Ever seen a naked magician do tricks?
  •

  • I wonder if psychics, astrologists, palm-readers, fengshui interpreters and the like ever get into accidents...
  • We often see that people in the past were not as lucky as us... for various reasons... such as economy, technology, health, and education.
I wonder how we are similarly viewed as unlucky to the people in the future.
  •

  • I don't think the videos being advertised for sale that supposedly provide images of war are really doing that. Mostly what you will see are battleships, airplanes and men running around with guns but those only represent at most half of what war is really like.
Real images of war, in my opinion, should be something like: injuries and deformations, abandoned children, starving people, long line-ups at soup kitchens and shelters, pregnant and upset women, and dead bodies.
  • I beg your pardon if I have a misunderstanding here, but you know how Japanese warriors and the like would kill themselves if they fail their mission.
I wonder if any of the ruthless expansionist military commanders and their perverted sadistic followers killed themselves after failing to conquer China (ie: Nanking Massacre) or the US after the second world war (ie: Pearl Harbour)...
  •

  • Don't look down on "weird" people, they have the potential to make good or bad history.
  • Is there anything wrong with asking "why"? For anything to occur or exist, there must be an explanation?
  •

  • Money and politics are two of the best tools for evil doing.
  • A lot of suffering and sin has happened on the face of this planet. Even suckier is that it is continuing to happen. And will continue to happen.
  •

  • Should an obituary be composed for me, let it state the bad things that I have done in my life.
  • If the word "discussion" is just another name for non-constructive and unfair criticism, then what is the point?

  • EPITAPH:

  • EXAMPLE OF JUSTICE #1:
Thief breaks into a house to steal things. 75 yr-old owner attacks with broomstick and hurts the thief. Thief sues. And wins. Owner has to pay a six-figure amount.
REASON: the thief only wanted to steal things. He did not intend to physically harm anybody. His bodily injuries and other damages (eg: loss of income) were worth more than the value of goods to be stolen.
  •

  • EXAMPLE OF JUSTICE #2:
A man gets attacked. He defends himself successfully but the attacker gets hurt. Attacker sues. And wins.
LESSON: practice your martial art skills to such a level that you can dodge all strikes without touching the attacker.
