HISTORY
9/10 - I went to see Calexico.  It was a good show although a little more up-tempo than I might have preferred.  That's probably what most people want on Friday night though, right? :)  They played everything from horns to accordion to melodicas and of course your standard guitars, drums & lapsteel.  That part was super cool. Oh - and they played a cover of one of my favorite Love songs.  Cool!
Fiery Furnaces
9/14 - I was lucky to arrive early enough to see The Gris Gris, who were great live.

Of course, I love
White Magic and they did not disappoint.  I enjoyed the more intimate nature of the Beachland show over their opening for Sonic Youth.

And finally,
The Fiery Furnaces blew my mind.  They seemed to be challenging themselves to play old & new songs at a minimum of 3 times their normal speed over some of the most incredible drumming I've seen with circuitous lyrical routes.  It was really incredible.  This is something you will tell your grandchildren about.  A new best show to add to 2004.
Oh, man, I am bummed.  I realized I hadmarked the Liars date at Oberlin incorrectly, so I went to their website to confirm the date and they posted (9/26/04) they had to cancel opening for Blonde Redhead.  Boo hoo.  :*(  Blonde Redhead will still be fun, but that would've been a great bill.
Yep, Yep, Yep.  It's been a minute.  I saw Junior Brown (fantastic as always) AND he played an encore.  A first for my experiences with him.  Very, very good show.
