Yun Yee Tong teaches Shaolin Chow Gar which was invented during the early 1900s. Chow Gar is a close in fighting system from Southern Shaolin, and is a form of Southern Praying Mantis, which is one of many chinese martial arts. It is an aggressive style with emphasis on close fighting. These skills are developed by utilizing a range of training techniques also known as, chongs and gungs which have been developed over several centuries.

Shaolin Chow Ga

There are five Chow Gar brothers known as the " five tigers " . Jow Lung , the fifth son in the Jow family ; Jow Hip being the sixth son ; the twins in Jow Biu and Jow Hoy which  were sons eight and nine and Jow Tin who was the tenth son. The main founder of Shaolin Jow Ga was the fifth son Jow Lung.
This system of kung - fu known as Jow Ga (Jow Family) is also referred to as ; Jow Ga , Zhou Jia, and Chow Ka depending o nthe dialect or translation. Jow Ga has also been referred to as Hung Tao Choy Mei, which translates to ' Head of Hung and tail of Choy '. It was labeled Hung Tao Choy Mei, because the system incorporates two of the best Southern style kung fu known as Hung Ga and Choy Ga. Hung Ga kung fu is noted for its powerful hand techniques and strong stances. Choy Ga kung fu is noted for its swift foot work, fast hand techniques and complex kicking. Jow Ga also incorporates Nothern Shaolin, which is known for its kicking and and long range hand techniques.
