Red Bowl Asian Bistro I admit to having a particular fondness for Red Bowl, as I was present for the Grand Opening and have met the owners -- nice folks. But when I say Red Bowl is a killer restaurant, I mean it. They have a varied menu of Chinese and other Asian dishes as well as the choice to design your own -- pick your meat, vegetables and rice or noodle, and I think sauce too. No more picking out the water chestnuts, or broccoli, or whatever veggie turns you green. The food is all delicious (I've made my way through half the menu so far), and the service is much improved from the hectic first day. Red Bowl has a sushi bar and a full selection of alcoholic beverages to suit your tastes, including sake and Tsing Tao, Sapporo, and Asahi beers. |
David Vheng Fort Mill, SC Lowe's Foods shopping center at the intersection of Gold Hill Rd and Steele Creek/160. Exit 88 off I-77. 803-802-5666 Available $5.50-6.50 Fortune and lucky numbers Stylish modern Asian |
Saigon Palace is tucked away in a strip mall on South Blvd, behind Hooters no less. But that is where I found the best Vietnamese food this side of Sharon Amity. The restaurant has a down-home feel, with a wait staff who look like they're skipping school. But the food is very good all around, the menu is extensive, and the beer is from Vietnam. Saigon Palace has recently redecorated, with a more upscale look and possibly more upscale prices. They also added a buffet. I liked the old setup better. |

Royal Panda |
Royal Panda is not fancy eatin'. It's a working man's buffet, but a reliable one; in three years of eating there I've only seen one instance of indigestion from a poor batch of Panda Chicken. Their barbeque on a stick is phenomenal, as are their Chinese donuts. Don't be afraid to try the mussels, and be sure to have the sweet sweet iced tea. The last time I went the service was not as good as it had been in the past. But it's still the best buffet on the west side. |

Bangkok Ocha I've only been here once, but I know it's good -- also a little steep for my taste. But really good. Also classy. Oh, and it's Thai food, if the whole Bangkok thing didn't clue you in. |

I look for a restaurant with good, inexpensive food, a varied menu, atmosphere, and character. And good fortune cookies! And Asian beer. |
Bombay Grille The light, thin, naan bread. The lentils. The chicken curry. The basmati rice. The tandoori chicken. It's all incredibly delicious, of the highest quality, and all on the lunch buffet for $7. Dinner is not buffet, and quite expensive. A bit better than Jaipur ..... |

Tin Tin Biggest and best high quality Asian buffet in town, with special focus on sushi, soup made to order (yes, part of the buffet), good service (quick drink refills), and did I mention the million other buffet items, including an entire dessert cart? Go for the sushi and delicious "sticky rice" but you might want to skip the mussels. |

Taste of Asia is a little gem without much seating tucked away by Movies at Crown Pointe. But I've eaten there thrice and come away impressed each time. I guess it's geared toward delivery, but it's a perfect little restaurant to go to before seeing a movie. Taste of Asia has a large Vietnamese section in addition to its Chinese dishes. Mr. Le recently retired and sold Taste of Asia, so we will see if his sucessor can maintain his level of quality. |

Great Wall of China |
Great Wall is a classy restaurant for reliably good food and atmosphere, on a date or for a business lunch, but nothing really stands out about it to me. If they sliced a dollar off the price I'd love it, and as it is I still go time to time. |
