The Pen Pal Project

Looking for a way to practice your English writing skills?

Consider joining the Pen Pal Project.

(What's a pen pal? A pen pal is someone you exchange letters or emails with. Usually a pen pal is someone who lives in a different area or country than you do. Having a pen pal is a way to get to someone you might never meet otherwise. In our case, your pen pal probably also lives in the Bay Area. But! They probably come from a different country than you do and speak a different first language.)

How To Get A Pen Pal

1. Send an email to the writeshareproject giving the following information:

         1. Your name
         2. Your gender (that means whether you are a man or a woman - some people feel more comfortable writing to someone of the same gender)
         3. What country you are from and what your first language is
         4. You might also want to tell your age, what your interests are and what things you'd like t write about (for example, kids, gardening, art, science, computers, business, etc.)
         5. TITLE YOUR EMAIL: LOOKING FOR A PEN PAL
         6. To look up postings other students have sent in looking for a pen pal, look up old emails sent to the writeshare project. (To do that you need to follow these directions.)

2. Once someone has answered your email or you have answered theirs, start emailing!

This is YOUR project and practice. These emails will not go to me. This is not a way to correct your English. This is a way to practice your English that is fun and helpful at the same time.
