04/20/06 YEA!!! I FINALL MADE IT TO NATIONALS!!! Yep, I won the Zone 5 Championships...much to my amazement! I thought for sure I would do well...but didn't think I'd actually win it! The team also hung on to make it to Nationals as well. So here we come Harrisburg! Woo Hoo I can't wait! :) 03/19/06 Well after the 2 Spring shows, the Maryville College eq. team finished off in top position for the year claiming the Region Championship title for the first time ever! Now the MC scotts will go compete as a team at the Zone Championships. I am headed off to the individual Region Championship this friday. Saturday we will find out if I get to go to Zones! Weee! 02/28/06 Gee it's been awhile since I've updated here...Im officially off the team now that I've gradutated...sigh...I'll miss the IHSA and the team. This year was a really good one for the team. We ended the fall season being tied for 1st in the region with Swanee...they ALWAYS win. So far this Spring the team has gained a 4 point lead for first though so things are looking up for the chance of a new team being crown region champ! Im supposed to compete at regions for my jumping and flat classes...my LAST shot at Nationals....pray for me! Oh and by the way, Buddy has survived the winter here for the first time ever with no injuries! YEA!!! Makes me happy...lol....and costs less $$ too. 04/11/05 Well the year is just about over ( for school at least). To wrap things up with the equestrian team, I got a 5th out of 13 riders at Regionals. Not quit good enough to make it to zones....but ehh....there is next year and im pretty much gaurantueed a qualification for regionals in jumping and on the flat next fall. The team had a couple of riders make it to zones though which is cool because they havent really ever had more than 2 riders (me and catherine last year) make it before. 04/08/05 Buddy Update: Well it looks like he is FINALLY doing better. The vet said I should start getting on him and walking him for 10 - 15 minutes 3 - 4 times a week. After about a week I have to take him back so the vet can evaluate how he is doing and up his work-laod a little if all is well... YEA for Buddy!!! 03-08-05 Just got back from Murray Ky. What a show! We totally killed the competition. I really dont think we ever expected to do that! lol. We only have like 12 riders on the team! Anyways...we won both days by landslides...Which put us in 2nd place for the year just 2 pts off from being Regional Champ. That is quite a big accomplishment for a team that's never been able to better 5th for the year. I also qualified for Regionals this year. Hope I do better than I did last year! 02/01/05 Well I registered for the Spring semester today! Classes start tomorrow...woo hoo...err...yea...anyways.... We got a new horse at the barn. He is REALLY cool! His name is Dalton and he is a HUGE Irish Sport Horse. He was donated because he colicked and got cast in his stall and after surgery and all he just isnt able to keep up with the competition in the Big Leagues. He is WAY cool though and very handsome! When I asked him for a lead change...I didn't even feel it! Buddy is still on the injured list unfortunately. Over 2 weeks have passed since Ive been back and his hock is STILL swollen. No one seems to have any idea what is wrong with it. It doesnt seem to hurt him but still...I had to have the vet come out and X-ray his hock...he is on 2 weeks of stall rest after some injections now. :( 01/18/05 Ok so I haven't added anything here latly...Ive had good reasons! A wedding for starters! and also I've been on break. Well I'm back now and The equestrian team is getting some NEW horses. How exciting! Can't wait to ride them and see what they are like! Buddy is doing good....minus a swollen hock. I guess he must have missed me over the month of December and decided to injure himself while I was gone. I don't really know what he did to it...but it's def. swollen! Hope it goes away soon....I'd really like to get his training on the go again.... 12/14/04 Well the semester is finally over.I am soooo glad for it also. The weather has gotten a bit on the cold side latly...my poor FL pony... I think he must get as cold as I am! ;) Well it's off to Fl for me to finish planning the wedding... lots to do...lots to do.... 10/31/04 Well I just got back from another show this weekend. The team went to Swanee to compete. The show didnt really go too well this weekend. I think things got a lil political if you ask me... there is something not right when the announcer and judge are sitting in the same booth together. The only first place we got on Saturday was in the custume contest! lol...although I withdrew from my flat class so we would have a point rider the next day in hopes of the team doing better. Sunday proved to be somewhat better....but still...lacking. I won my flat class and got second over fences...which gave me Reserve High Point Rider again. Woo Hoo!! Im on a roll!!! :) 10/15/04 This past weekend my school hosted another IHSA show. The team did really well this weekend! We got a High Point team on Sunday and had a rider recieve High Point Rider. I was tied for the Reserve High Point Rider also. I had to toss a coin to see who got to keep the ribbon....and I lost yet again. At least I go to the school that hosted the show which means they can order me a ribbon! ;) Buddy didn't like this show though, I had to pull him from his last class...He had had enough with all the new riders! 09/22/04 Well our first horse show was a success! Buddy was great in all his classes! I am SO proud of my little horsey! He worked really hard all weekend. One of the girls from my team drew him for her flat class and won a second on him. The team did really good too. We ended up getting a Reserve High Point team for the second day of the show. We were beat by just one point by Sewanee. I think we are going to keep getting better! I did really well also. The first day wasn't so great because I didn't get to jump and I drew a REALLY SLOW horse for my flat class. He has one speed...slow. The judge didnt like him so I only got a 5th. which isn't too bad out of 8 riders...but still...I usually win my flat classes. The second day made up for the first day though. I got to jump and I ended up winning both my jumping and flat classes. This won my High Point Rider for the day! Not too shabby for my first time ever competing in a jumping class in the IHSA! :) Here are some pics of me riding in my classes.... 09/17/04 This weekend is our first horse show of the year! Im really looking forward to it. I get to jump for the first time in the IHSA. I waited ALL YEAR last year and never got to jump in a competition. And Im really glad all the rain looks like it is going to be done with in time. Daniel even got off work for the weekend in order to be there with me. It's going to be a great weekend! )9/12/04 I really like the fact that my horse has made friends with this little black arab mare named Bint. Bint is such a quiet natured horse. She always stays under the shelter when its raining and when its hot out. Because of this, Buddy also stays under this shelter. I like this because it is closer to the barn and its not as far to walk to bring him in to ride. I also like this because it means that he is not out in the weather if its storming or in the sun getting sun bleached nearly as bad if he wasnt going under this shelter. Thank God for Bint! lol. 09/08/04 Well it's been raining for 2 days straight here. I can't wait for some drier weather. Buddy doesn't like wet weather either. He HATES water actually. Especially if he has to step in it! The riding arena im sure is pretty saturated with water. I stayed away from the barn today because of it. 08/29/04 Well school starts next week. It will be good to get back to classes. A nice change from the summer. You prolly think that im crazy to say that but I have my reasons, trust me. Anyways, the equestrian team received several new horses over the summer. They all seem to be pretty cool although I have only gotten the chance to ride one of them. Im looking forward to riding the others. I usually only get to ride my horse though. I cant have someone else ride him because most of the other girls on the team are scared to ride him and they screw him up majorly when they do ride him. I just wish they would let me ride some different horses once in awhile. Riding just my horse doesnt do mush to get me ready for IHSA. 08-28-04 This is the first entry to my journal here. Im going to write in this journal about my year on my school's equestrian team and my goals for the year. It will be a way to express myself and to voice my opinions. My first goal for the year is to make it to Nationals this year. I missed going by 2 spots last year! I should have a pretty good chance of it if they let me compete enough through the season. We have more riders on the team this year so I don't know how they are going to work it this year. |
