She spent 9 weeks in nicu before she ever came home and when she did finally get to come home she came with a heart/apnea monitor and an ng feeding tube. Ju e 27, 2000 Zharia passed away at home. We had no idea why until the autopsy was done. Zharia died from "Complications of 18q- syndrome. They found several things associated with her syndrome that we were totally unaware. No doctor (and she had plenty f them) ever mentioned any of these things. My husband and I feel that she was a blessing. We love and miss her very much. She was 8 months and 1 day when she passed away. God bless you and your family. |

We have a 4 month old granddaughter with semi-lobar holoprosencephaly meaning that the frontal lobes of her brain did not form correctly. She also has microcephaly. We don't know what the future holds fo her - no one can say. She is doing very well except for a lot of seizure activity which her parents are hoping will be controled with medications. Her parents are still in shock. |
