Seth Guichardo Pottlebury Wins Chancery Law Suit

Wire Services. The Court of Chancery has decided after a twenty-year deliberation that Mr Pottlebury is the heir to the Marshmount Castle estates in Wotshire. The last of the ancient line of the Marshmount family, Guichardo, perished before the First World War, and left no heirs. Not so, claimed the suitor, who has been long known in the area as an eccentric 'pretender' -- "My grand-da was Guichardo Marshmount and I got a letter he wrote to my grand-ma sending her money and apologizing for his indescretion." This, with the recent discovery of British Army records that the son of this union was officially married to Mr Pottlebury's mother, finally persuaded the Chancery Court (under new liberalization rules) to approve Mr Pottlebury's claim.

A spokesman for the trustees of the Marshmount estate issued the following statement:

We always believed this man to be an impostor. We were wrong.
For this, we deeply apologise. We had cause to believe there was
no heir to the last Marshmount, and sneered at the claimant, and
even went to the extent of saying such a person did not exist. Well
we blew it. I will be the first to admit that even a lawyer can be wrong
and we hope the future settlement can be worked out amicably.

What this means to the efforts of the Marshmount Castle Trustees to open the castle to the public as a museum is as yet unclear. Mr Pottlebury (now Baron Marshmount) has been unavailable for comment, as he has had a long-time aversion to public attention. His only comment on hearing the court decision was "I always said I was Guichardo Three, now I am."

The Sun. Bastard becomes a nobleman. "I am now Guichardo III of Marshmount, but I don't really like that name. Call me Lord Seth or Tigti Yellowbeard."
