JOHN ODOM Sr.
1793 NC to Tattnall Co., Ga.

Need help looking for JOHN ODOM's parents. Have found John (b 1776-1800 Ireland, died 22 Nov 1872 Tattnall, Co., Ga.). Have found him in NC- SC -Va. and in Tattnall, Co. Someone said he left Ireland, went to England then to the new world (USA). John Odom married Nancy Gordon (dau of Rev. Alexander Gordon and Lisha ( think its Jones ) May 19, 1825 in Tattnall Ga. They had about 13 ch: ALEXANDER GORDON, WILLIAM DANIEL, TRAVIS, LEWIS BONDS, SARAH ("Sally"), JOHN, ALLEN, JAMES H., BENJAMIN F., NANCY, JOSEPH HENRY and MARTHA ("Mary") ODOM. We've asked Ireland of the Odom family, no trace of any Odom's until the close of the 16th Century & the beginning of the 17th century. But nothing more, just the last name. There were 8 out of this family that served in the War for Southern Independence and only 3 came home alive. And John Odom was one to come home alive. Thank You for any help you can give on this family of ODOM 'S .. John has been a big question mark. Thank You, Brandi [EDITOR's note: this was JOHN ODOM Sr., b 1 Jan 1793 in NC--not Ireland. Our family is not Irish-- our ancestors came from England. He was a son of BENJAMIN ODOM.]
