Orrin Kingsley

Orrin was born in Newark Ohio, but came to Michigan with his parents and family in 1853. At the time of the Regiment's formation, Orrin was a resident of Romulus and was working as a farmer, probably helping on the family farm He enlisted on August 13, 1862 at Romulus, Possibly at the urging of his older brother John, who had enlisted the previous day, and his younger brother Samuel who had enlisted on August 8. . Orrin Kingsley was 20. In recognition of his personality and talents, he was immediately made First Corporal.

Not very much is know of Orrin's service. O. B. Curtis (p. 396) indicates that Orrin was in the Division Commissary Guard for 10 months. In recognition of his good service, he was eventually promoted to First Sergeant.

Orrin mustered out with the Regiment on June 30, 1865 at Detroit. Orrin was a witness at the wedding of Frank Stewart and Helen Payne on August 28, 1865. Presumably he and Frank had been "pards".

At the time the "Brown Books" were compiled (c. 1905), he was a resident of Detroit.
