Anything for a Laugh One of George's pre-Gracie acts was with a seal. This is one of the earliest photos of George as an amateur performer. He recalls that at that time in his life he really wanted to be in show business, but was never really sucessful until Gracie came along. To supplement his income, rumor has it that he sold hand-painted neckties on the side. |

![]() George and Gracie in the early days. At the time that these photos were being taken before they met. Gracie was doing a solo act with some Irish dance and singing. George was apparently working with whomever or whatever would be willing to work with him. He recalls that around this time he was working with a gentleman, they would get fired because they were so bad, and then they would return to the same venue with another name. Another testimony to what Gracie honestly did for his career. |

On and Off Stage This image can be traced back to the early years of the team. Before TV, radio, and movies the team spent much time in building a following while performing on the Vaudeville stage. The quality of this photo would suggest that it was taken back in the 1920's. |
