Get your own Free Home Page============================= USS CHESAPEAKE (NCC-31813) Hood-Class Light Cruiser (CL) Task Force Bravo, Green Fleet ============================= ================================= Mission 2: The Ghosts of Miros IV ================================= The CHESAPEAKE is assigned to investigate mysterious goings-on at a UFP archaeological dig on a rather desolate planet. The archaeologists were searching for an alien artifact -- an edifice, really -- which was reputed to be able to channel 'multiphasic lifeforms'... in the vernacular, 'ghosts.' The interest was that multiphasic forms are very rare, but this desolate planet seemed to have so many of them. The archaeologists believed that it was this mysterious (some argued mythical and fantastic) edifice that is enabling the birth of these multiphasic lifeforms, and are looking for the source. There were many skeptics in SFSCI, but through various channels, the dig was financed. On SD 100116, UFP Headquarters received reports from the archaeologists that the dig had successfully located this edifice. SFSCI scheduled for additional personnel to be dispatched from their office, but two days later, on SD 100118, communication with the archaeological team stopped. Concerned for the well-being of the scientists, as well as security interests surrounding the artifact, Starfleet sends the CHESAPEAKE to investigate. ----------------------------------------------------------------- The CHESAPEAKE takes on a mission specialist, LT Dana Barrett, who rubs everyone the wrong way. Also, the crew experience supernatural visions as they come ever closer to Miros IV. The first foray by the Away Team ends with multiple injured personnel, but the next trip confirms the visions of the CHESAPEAKE crew. However, it turns out that Barrett had been harboring, without her knowledge, an evil spirit that had been waiting to get back to Miros IV. While the spirit escapes, it instead takes over the body of the newly arrived Chief Engineer, hijacking her to the surface. There, the Science Officer, accompanied by the Captain, is possessed by the benevolent spirit of Rha, and in the ultimate battle of supernatural beings, the evil one is destroyed.
