Background: Sam McCluskey was raised in a poor district of New Orleans and soon dropped out of school to play pool in bars, party and fish in the bayous. He was recruited into a criminal gang of petty thieves. One day he met the beautiful 50-ish madame of an elite house of women and they struck up a friendship, and he became the house guard. The ladies catered to space pilots and an alien or two, and he was soon dreaming about space. He applied to the navy, and flunked out of Starfleet academy. Frustrated, he returned to work for his patroness and then trained with a semi-legit spacefreight company she held stock in. He found he could fly a ship, repair its engines, fire a phaser, but he could not work for any major line - they wanted ex-navy types with beautiful records. Sam decided to run his own business, but he needed to earn some major money quickly to get started, so he joined the crew of the MV Exchequer.

Personality: ignorant, brave, somewhat cynical, can be kind to the underdogs, insecure about education, sure about good looks.

Special Notes: Sam resents his missing father still.
