Hazard dies

At the beginning of the session, William and Jessica, now cohabiting, were on Earth. Hazard was hanging around Benedict, serving as his secretary, due to his hatred of paperwork.

Quotes from the session,
"I think you should just call him S, standing for Someone, or Shithead." Luke.

"I think he should be called Cannon Fodder, and we should leave it at that." Moradin.

"You think you can see off an army, alone?" Benedict.
"Actually, I was rather thinking that you could hold off the army, while I go save William again. They're not too hard to deal with. Hazard
"You mean, just kill them all, as you did last time?" Benedict
"I did not!- the one in a coma is expected to pull through." Hazard

"You get attempts? Don't tell me about it - whole armies attack me!"Hazard

"Your father is dead again. And this time, it's for real." Random to Jessica

"Ohshitohshitohshit, weareallgoingtodie." Hazard, floating in the Abyss, having just met Great-Uncle Crowley.

"Of course I'm bloody right. I'm Hazard. Now fly, you fool!" Hazard, last words.

Despite the fact that the GM was having a nervous breakdown trying to tie in a campaign that was taking several years to come to fruition, William and Jessica stayed around on Earth, and got shot at or electrocuted or gassed or bombed every year. Hazard noted that on the anniversary of being mugged in Amber Port, which had given her a workout, she was beaten up on by the press-gang, which actually made her sweat. About a year later, Earth time, she was attacked by a mob, which made her angry, by ruining one of her shirts with her own blood. A year after that, she had to ask Benedict for help when a rather lost Kislevite army blundered into her. Also that year, Jessica's attempt was made with a crossbow, and Benedict took a bolt through his left and only hand to save her.
Things reached an interesting point when Jessica and William accused their friend, Luke, of being "S". Luke wandered into the bathroom, and came out ten minutes later looking like Moradin. He had been protecting them for years, along with his sister Hazard, and he wanted to give up. Jessica and William returned to Amber, giving up ideas of independence, and that year, as well as there being attempts on the three younger ones, Caine was shot through the heart, with a rifle. Jessica, in shock, inherited his possessions, and a desire for vengeance against "S". That same year, on S-Day, Jessica was chased by a golem-thing, which was very hot, and William was almost blasted by an inferno from a tunnel-thing that just appeared and breathed flames at him.
Jessica then did nothing about it.
That's right, nothing. William, also did sweet FA. Hazard was busy, but only because she knew what might be behind it, and was very very afraid. So she did something exceedingly stupid. She jumped down the Abyss. The mind boggles.
Hazard had seen the Abyss flaming when she had thrown the seal down, and had noted the odd colour of the flames. The flames that had reached for William were almost that colour, and the fires that had flickered on the brow of the golem were also like that. Therefore, the answer was down there, QED.
Thus, Hazard was the first to find out that Crowley was awake once more.
Crowley was a rather nasty sight. Some terrible magical accident had left him with a wish not to let anybody see the right side of his face or body. Thus, he wore half of a mask, in a manner reminiscent of Two-face, of Batman fame, or the Phantom of the Opera.
She returned to the surface, and tried to shift back to Amber, only to find that she couldn't manipulate Shadow. She had to hike, and when that failed, drag herself using the Logrus Tendrils, after her Trumps failed to work She walked the Pattern there. She returned after about six months, having travelled for three weeks, due to time-lapse, and found Jessica and William were still doing nothing.
In about January of that year, the Flagship Venus, Gerard's pride and joy, went down in good weather. Gerard was the only survivor, and when he had been sobered up, William managed to extract from him the information that the ship was seaworthy, the weather was good, there were no hidden sandbars or rocks, and the sinking was very suspicious.
Hazard went out into Shadow to find her friend GeltCarl, the best engineer in Shadow, and almost as good a mathematician as Hazard herself, to ask if it would be possible to design an engine that ran on gunpowder. William and Jessica spent a while searching the docks and inlets, looking for where an underwater ship could be found.
In the meantime, two more cousins showed up, found, apparently, by a black-clad ninja, and deposited on the steps of the castle. There names were Felix and Electra. Hazard knew of Felix already, but said nothing.
Then disaster struck. William decided he wanted to seek Hazard's protection that year, and to stop anything in Amber getting damaged, she took him out to Arden. Apart from Julian making a pass at her, she reasoned, nothing really bad could happen. Like Hell. They were staying the night in one of Julian's hunting lodges, and suddenly the temperature began to rise. Lightning, William's sword, told him to "Run away and do Panicky Things, Boss." Hazard told him to get out of there, and she would deal with it. When he hesitated, she bullied him into going. He ran. Behind him, the forest went up like a small nuclear bomb had hit it, and Hazard was still there.
Out of the inferno, a huge Golem chased him. By sheer fortune, William blundered into Julian's nearby encampment, to find the great man himself, in full armour, directing the making of firebreaks. When William explained the situation, Julian told him to run on, and took on the Golem himself.

At the end of the session, Hazard was dead, Jessica was in shock, thinking William had killed her, and Julian was in the infirmary, William was suffering something near to a nervous breakdown after being exiled for Hazard's death, by Random, and Felix and Electra were plotting to kill William as a punishment.
