The Waitress

Dreamt by Anonymous, 1998

I dreamt that I was part of the crew (with about as many
lines as Mazatl :)) and that we were all sitting down in the Biodome
(Mary's Garden?) to eat dinner when Clancy Brown (not John Danziger; he
was conspicuously absent) pulled up in a shiny black sports utility
vehicle with his wife. They walked in and he said, "We were just driving
along and my wife wanted to stop in and check out the local color."

So, we cleared a space for them at one of the long tables and poured
them a glass of milk. The wife commented, "Service here is pretty slow,
don't you think? Where's our waitress?"

I was just about to tell her there weren't waitresses on this planet
when the old hag Katrina, holding a pen and a pad of paper, walked in
from the adjoining galley and proceeded to take their orders. Her hands
were too arthritic for her to write well, so I took it from her and
wrote in waitress shorthand what the Browns wanted for dinner. Bess
asked me to add some pie onto her order, and since she and I were good
buddies, I did it. But pretty soon everyone was asking me to write down
their orders, too.

Then Devon stood up and said, "Guys, Katrina is our waitress because
we're punishing her for killing Shepherd. The Earth chick [(referring
to me, I guess)] shouldn't have to do this stuff."

I just kind of shrugged and said, "SOMEONE has to do this, or we'll all
starve. And I'm the only one who's ever waited tables before. Make
Katrina do the dishes, or something."

Clancy caught my eye with a wink and said, "That's very sweet of you."
And then Katrina came up and hugged me, crying and saying something
about how glad she was that SOMEONE had forgiven her. Devon kind of gave
me a dirty look as I walked back into the galley, and that's when the
dream ended.
