8/30/99 - Subject: Not much to tell (but I make up for that)...
I've not much to tell you all since last we spoke...
I played a nice 15 song solo set at the Winery a few weeks back that
was quite successful, and band practice with what we're currently
referring to as Milltown (the alt-country band with Tom Crea formerly
of V.o.L.) has been going so well that we plan to start playing out
come October.

Currently the Georgia line-up of Set on Edge has a show scheduled for
October 16th at the Sozo Fest here in Athens, GA, but I'll not be
able to have any long-distance-driving company that weekend because I
won't be in town myself -- I'll be driving in for the show from a few
hours away, and leaving again as soon as it's finished.  I will be
taping the show professionally, and will gladly burn some c.d.'s for
some of you if you're willing to cover the cost when that time comes.

The new Julie Miller disc, "Broken Things" is out and is absolutely
beautiful.  It's like a folkier V.o.L. with a quirky Victoria
Williams-ish lead vocalist (actually Vic Williams, Emma Lou Harris,
and several other DO appear through-out the record). Also, the
Innocence Mission have a new c.d. out; "Birds of my Neighborhood",
and it's a bit -- well --it's very relaxing.  Nice, and relaxing.
"Pretty" is a good word.

The best news is, for you folks in Ohio...
On Sept. 9th at the Seasongood Pavilion in Eden Park
in Cincinnati, Ohio, is the Friends Fest '99...
it's FREE, and Over the Rhine is playing at around 7:40 P.M!
That should be GREAT, and I envy all of you Ohioans who get to see
it.

Speaking of Ohio, my visit was glorious -- it was one of the best
visits yet.  Many thanks to;  J. Alex, Chucky D., S.
Harris, S.Rieske, Teresa (Teza?), Hillary, Ravi, the Pyles, and so
many others that made my Ohio visit so wonderful, even if I was only
able to see them for a moment.

Next up;  Steve, Shannon, and Dave playing for a private party in
Chicago, unrehearsed -- McCall-a-palooza!  Yeah!  Did ya'll know?
Dave McCall's getting MARRIED!  WooHoo!

with much love,
