        Decorating articles with enamel was known in Russia from time immemorial. Russian masters knew different technical methods of putting enamels over the surface of metal objects. In the seventeenth century enamel objects became very popular. This is he craft of the Solvychegodsk masters known as usolye enamel. The works are extremely decorative. Characteristic of them are bright enamel colours on a dazzling whit enamel background.
