Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the
righteous to be moved.
Psalm 55:22
Life has burdens that no one can escape. Christianity does not remove the load: it
teaches us how best to bear the burdens that fall rightfully to us.

"The greatest word is God. The deepest word is Soul. The longest word is Eternity.
The swiftest word is Time. The nearest word is Now. The darkest word is Sin. The meanest
word is Hypocrisy. The broadest word is Truth. The strongest word is Right. The tenderest
word is Love. The sweetest word is Home. The dearest word is Mother." Anonymous.
The Bishop of Hippo said to Monica, Augustine's mother, "Depart, good woman, the
child of so many prayers cannot be lost!" Mothers, don't forget the privileges we
have in prayer and performance for our little ones.

"Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect?" - Romans 8:3

There are promises which are like grapes in the wine-press; if you will tread them the juice will flow. |
For the Christian there is no stroke from God's angry hand--nay, not so much as a single frown of punitive justice. The believer may be chastised by his Father, but God the Judge has nothing to say to the Christian, except "I have absolved thee: thou art acquitted." |

Accountability by Pat Nordman
|
We seem to have abdicated accountability. What an onerous word, accountability, in today's free-wheeling lexicon of rights and nuances .... And yet our righteous God demands an accounting of our thoughts and actions. We might do well to remember that the one does follow the other, too. Otherwise, advertising would be for nought. It is silly to say that what we see and hear day in and day out has no effect on us. Chuck Swindoll gives us four qualities of accountability in his book, Living Above the Level of Mediocrity:
We had five sons and I recall buying a shirt for one of the younger boys
that said, "The devil made me do it." He was a mischievous little guy and I
thought the shirt was hilarious. Of course I never took it seriously and I'm sure he
didn't when he was punished for some of his shenanigans. But as the decades have gone by
and I've witnessed all the lawsuits flooding the land and everyone blaming everyone else,
I wonder if the devil is laughing at us all.
