Compose and Send


The participant will learn how to compose e-mail messages.

The participant will learn how to send an e-mail messages.

Time Frame: 1 Hour

Materials: Handouts, Handout with Trainers' Addresses, Paper

Equipment Needed: Computers, Printers, Internet


Activity: Compose and send email messages.

Step 1: Start your Internet browser.

Step 2: Ask the adult-learner to access the hotmail site. In the address window, type www.hotmail.com.

Step 3: Ask the learner to login with his or her login name. Type the password and click enter.

Step 4: Ask the learner to click the Compose Box on the left hand side of the screen.

Step 5: Ask the learner to refer to handout on e-mail to complete the following items. (See Figure 7.1.)

Step 6: Ask the learner to type in his or her address as the receiver of the email in the TO box. (See item "A" on handout.) Press tab.

Step 7: Ask the learner to fill out the subject line. (See item "D" on handout.) For example, type: Practice E-mail.

Step 8: Ask the learner to click in the body text area, used for composing.

Step 9: Ask learner to compose a short message to be sent to yourself.

Step 10: Tell learner to close with a traditional "Sincerely" or an ending like "Later" and the writer's name.

Step 11: When done with composing, send the message to yourself.

Step 12: To send a message, click the Send button, located at the top or bottom of screen.

Step 13: Click the Ok button to accept confirmation that the message has been sent.

Next Activity:

* Tell learner to see handout for trainers' addresses.

Step 14: Tell learner to compose and send a message to the trainers listed on the handout.

* Remember to click the OK button to accept confirmation that the message has been sent.
