The Para Kay Kiko Summer Instructional Program started in the Summer of 1990. It was originally founded with only 3 subjects, English, Math & Science. There were no formal officers. As the years passed, formal officers were instituted.

A Brief History . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . an article from 1992
The Para Kay Kiko Program has its beginnings in the schoolyear 1989-90. Patrick Cruz ('90), the Student Council (SC) President of that year, conceptualized PKK as a scholarship fund that would enable a poor yet deserving student to study in Xavier School. Hence, 50% of that year's school fair went to the PKK, instead of the usual Alay Kapwa Fund. It is unclear who were the original people who started PKK, but some of its co-founders were Edmund dela Cruz, Alvin Ang, Lloyd Tanlu and Gifford Chu, all of batch 1990.

Now that a scholarship was created, the next question was who to award the scholarship to. This problem resulted in the decision to conduct a summer enrichment school for the top five students of each of the graduating Grade Six batches of the public schools in the San Juan area. The reason for this was so that in the course of the summer school, a student might be seen as qualified for a Xavier education. The summer enrichment school was designed to provide a 'Xavier-class education' during the course of the summer; however with volunteer Xavier High School students as teachers. The first PKK summer class began on May 2, 1990 and lasted for four weeks with Harvey Mateo ('91)as its first principal.

After its first year of operation, PKK realized that there were problems in awarding scholarships to Xavier School. Foremost of this is the issue of Chinese. Nontheless, this did not discourage the Student Council of 1990-91 to continue the PKK program. Thus, the second PKK Summer School was held in May of 1991 with Joseph Sia ('92) as principal. It was this year that organized PKK into a more formal school. Also, since that year did not have a school fair due to the Gulf War, the Student Council sponsored its first movie premiere in history, Awakenings, to provide the funds for PKK. (This is the origin of the SC's annual movie premiere.)

A significant event for PKK for schoolyear 91-92 was that it awarded its first scholarship to a young girl in Sapang Palay to pay for her 2-year tuition in Assumption School in Sapang Palay. This scholarship was arranged by Mr.Alex Puente, Ms. Norma Estor, Fr. Jess Lucas, SJ, and Alex Tan ('92), the SC President of that year.

In 1992, PKK has its third summer school with Stanley Chua ('93) and Robert So ('93) as principals. The choice of next year's principal was determined by the previous year's principal and its department heads. This summer school saw the introduction of having weekly excursion trips during Saturday mornings. For that year, PKK visited Malabon Zoo and Intramuros.

In 1993, Robert Cham Jr. ('94) became PKK's fourth principal. This year was the first year that PKK increased its student population by accepting incoming Grade Six and incoming High One students.

In 1994, Jaime Bautista ('95) became PKK's fifth principal. The significant addition for this year's program was the introduction of Computer as a fourth subject.

In 1995, Terence Ang ('96) became PKK's sixth principal.

In 1996, Exxon Ryan Uy ('97) became PKK's seventh principal.

In 1997, Rabbi Vincent Ang ('98) became PKK's eigth principal.
