a human being, who is also wearing a NASA space suit, sitting in a chair. He is staring straight at them. Jeff notices the man is wearing a name tag that says "Bill Tatman".
"Bill Tatman? Bill Tatman! You led the first expedition to the crater up there! Everyone thinks that you and your crew are now dead! Wow, man! No word was heard from you after you landed here, so we all thought the worst had happened!" yells Jeff in excitement.
The man rises from his chair and says, " Yes, I am Bill Tatman, and yes, I did lead the first expedition here to the crater."
"So where is your crew?" asks Steve.
"They're all here, safe and sound," answers Bill. " I guess you want to know why we haven't lifted a finger to escape from this place. Well, the fact is, we don't really want to leave. The people who live here, under the moon's surface are really high tech. In fact, they control the orbit of all the planets and moons of the Milky Way! They are smart, they are kind, so we decided to join them. They are much like us; we eat the same, we drink the same, and our physical appearance is almost the same. We never want to go back to Earth again! If there is Heaven, this is it! Just think, everyone lives in peace, the food is spectacular, and the people are friendly. On top of that, there is no pollution! Just clear, wonderful air."
"Air?!" the men exclaim. The never actually really noticed that Bill was not wearing a space helmet and was breathing naturally. They take off their helmets and start breathing the sweet air.
"Would you like to meet the natives?" asks Bill. "Come, follow me."
Bill leads them to a door at the end of the room. The men are astonished at the sight of thousands of aliens, sitting at a long table, enjoying the most wonderful feast the men had ever seen. Bill was right; the aliens were very similar to Earthmen, except they wore brown robes of an unknown material. At the end of the table, was a man in a colored robe, who was obviously the leader.
"It's mealtime," Bill says. "Would you like to join us?"
"Well, we'd love to, but is there a way out of here? We have loved ones back on Earth that are probably worried stiff about us," says Steve.
Bill frowns. "Are you sure you don't want to stay with us? The life is wonderful here!"
"I can see it is, but we still need to get back. We don't want to give up our loved ones," says James. "But don't worry, your secret is safe with us. We know that if we tell, every reporter and scientist will come up here and disturb you and these peaceful creatures."
Bill nods and yells at one of the aliens in a weird language. It is obvious that Bill has already mastered their language. The alien gets up and leads them back to the control tower they had been at earlier on. He starts to push a few buttons, and suddenly the crater on the ceiling begins to open. Then the alien takes them to the same place where they had fallen. The alien backs away and pushes another button. The ground starts lifting up and up, until they are near the surface. They put their space helmets back on and wave to Bill and the natives who had just crowded down below them. Finally they reach the top, and the three men step off the platform. The crater closes and they see Falcon III straight ahead.
As they walk back towards the ship, Steve calls Houston and says," Houston, we're coming home. By the way, there is nothing to report. It was just an asteroid that hit the moon. Everything is normal."
