Philanthropy and Charity

ADPi's national philanthropic project is support of the Ronald McDonald House (Children's Oncology Services, Inc.), which provides low cost housing for the families of children undergoing hospital treatment for cancer. It was adpoted as our official philanthropy in 1979.

There are many ways to support the RMHC: monetary donations, donations of aluminum pop tabs, and campus fundraisers. For more information, see the RMHC web page, or contact your local chapter.

Our chapter led and participated in many philanthropic events. These include:

• Hosting a Haunted House fundraiser with Sigma Tau Gamma
• Participating in the Sigma Chi Derby Days events
• Dying our hair during the Dye-A-Pi event for RHMC
• Holding a pop tab contest to benefit RMHC
• Participating in the March of Dimes
• Collecting Teddy Bears for Sept. 11th

There are numerous opportunities for philanthropic work as a member of an ADPi Alumnae Association. Please contact your local alumnae group for more information.

Alpha Delta Pi is committed to bringing many different kinds of charity to fruition. The Alpha Delta Pi Foundation provides resources for educational, leadership and philanthropic opportunities for women. The Foundation also seeks to improve the lives of women and the communities in which they live.

The foundation does this by:

• awarding competitive academic scholarships to collegians, graduate students, and those seeking higher degrees;
• providing emergency grants to collegians and alumnae who are in financial distress;
• funding leadership training and personal development programs for members;
• helping collegian and alumnae chapters to set up philanthropic projects for local charities; and
• preserving the Aldelphean Room in the Cannon Ball House Museum.
