After intensive research and deliberation, a young and vibrant group of womyn discovered that Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Incorporated possessed many distinct elements they themselves embodied, although their college campus did not.
To the interested womyn, Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Incorporated possessed a majestic aura of uniqueness. It was comprised of womyn with noble aspirations. The ideals of the Sorority included creating an environment that would foster the advancement of independent womynhood and the development of each of its members though a commitment to leadership, academic excellence, philanthropic service and Sisterly love.
Not only did Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Incorporated stand out to these womyn for its ideals, but also for its skills learned through its membership, including time management and networking which would be transferable to the workplace. The alumni of Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Incorporated were comprised of educators, lawyers, social workers, journalists...artists. These were businesswomyn, philanthropists, mothers, role models and active members of their communities and leaders of society. To the interested womyn, this was all a promising reflection of their aspiring successes in life.
These interested womyn fully recognized Lambda Tau Omega's Sorority, Incorporated molding of its members. Through their active involvement in the Sorority a womyn would learn the crucial leadership skills needed to be independent and successful. And not only were the members of Lambda Tau Omega Sorority, Incorporated obliged to the sisterhood's ideals, but also to their diversity. The overall membership was indeterminate of age, member of any race or follower of any creed.
Then with very little left to convince them and with much courage and determination, on December 6, 1994, seven highly motivated and truly dedicated womyn founded the Eighth Wonder Of Lambda Tau Omega's Sorority, Incorporated Mermaid World-Leonyne Theta Chapter!
