THE TRAP- The diagram below exemplifies the trap. The Puckcarrier has a full head of steam and finds himself surrounded by opposition and no where to go.
F2: Strong Side (Puckside) forward
STRONG SIDE FORWARD F2 (puck side forward) is our break man. His job is to breakup any play the puckcarrier attempts. The puckcarrier is his man now. F1 could become involved but he is still responsible for potential centering, D to D and back passes.
D2 is there as a backup in case the puckcarrier gets by F2.
The trap is basically double teaming the puckcarrier in a way he has very few options.
