DEFEATING THE TRAP
The trap can be defeated at times with quick precision passes. A back pass to a defensemen below who immediately passes diagonally to a stationary or rushing forward will work sometimes. (see below).
WEAKSIDE FORWARD F3 (off side wing, forward) This is our safety if a play is made up the middle or weakside as a result of:
1) Your FIRST FORWARD (F1) angled early and the puckcarrier passed the puck to his partner who is now skating full speed toward center ice.
2) A back pass to a defenseman pictured above.
Take note how the 2 forwards and 1 defenseman (pictured in the box) are smothering one side of the ice leaving the weak side with 2 players(F3 and D1).
