(comments) I am a 54 year old white (if race matters) male. I took up golf just a few years ago. I love the game. Today I watched young Tiger dominate the Masters. He is both Asian and Afro-American, but to me he is all American. As much as I admire his superb golfing skills, I even more admire his drive and character. I don't think I ever felt so much pride in rooting for a fellow American. He's wrong about one thing though. What's that you ask? The next time I get on the course "I am Tiger Woods." :)

(comments) Tiger is the man!!! Not only is he the youngest player to ever win a Master's Championship, but he also broke many big time records this weekend. He has deffinately proven to the world that he is the hero of golf and will show that even more in the future! When all people were saying that he couldn't do it, Tiger stepped in and showed them what he was made of! I know I admire him for that and I am sure that you do to.

CONGRATULATIONS, TIGER!!!!! :)
I watched the coverage of The Masters Tournament, and you look VERY handsome in that 42-long green jacket! (You look handsome without, too, but that's another story ...) I really don't know what to say, though. What CAN a spectator when she's watching history unfold before her eyes? But I do know this: I'm proud of ya, Tiger! May God continue to bless you, and YOU GO, BOY!!!!!!!!!!

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I REALLY FELT I WAS WATCHING SOMETHING THAT PEOPLE WILL REFER TO FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. TIGER YOU ARE A TRUE HERO AND ROLE MODEL. TOM WATSON SAID IT BEST ON SATURDAY. The comments of myself and any other spectator of this
game are probably of no consequence. The important
views and comments for Tiger will come from his peers.
For the last year or so I've heard many different
issues about every aspect of this young adult's life.
Everything from ability, attitude, money, and race, to
name a few. I can only hope his record breaking win
at his first Major will convince his peers and
the media that he is indeed for real. My opinion means
very little, but for those, like me, who simply love
this game and envy "The Tiger", we must see him for who
he really is. He is and will prove to be an icon in
the game of golf. We all suspected and hoped he could
do it, (and this may be premature) but, how can the
media and his peers at this point not look at him as
potentially the greatest player that ever held a club.
My only comment is: time will tell, and I thank God
that I am of this generation and will witness all of
his records and accomplishments to come in the
following years. In closing, I hope we all realize
what we are about to witness.

Tiger Woods was absolutely phenomenal!!! I cannot wait until I get an opportunity to see him play again. If his performance in this year Masters is any indication of his career in golf, he has a lifelong fan in me. Keep swinging, Tiger. We're all rooting for ya!!!

For a young man (from an 'old' man of 58), you have become a magnificient admiration of respect for talent, dedication and family orientation. And I am NOT a golfer, and am white. So I submit this message respectfully to an individual who stands tall among ALL of us...male, female, white, green or purple!!!
Please never lose the roots from which you came and the admiration of the rest of us who honor such an individual.

And to think that he's ony 21. If Tiger's performance in the Masters is anything to go by, he's going to be the greatest golfer ever.
Tiger is an indisputable hero!!!

I watched the tournament coverage yesterday, and I can't believe how easy Tiger made those preposterous shots look! Anyway, I'm proud of him Tiger's making history at Augusta, but the thing about it is that he's not deliberately trying to make history -- he's just being himself.

Tiger is great. A wonderful role model for young men.
I do wish tho, that it did not have to come down to race.
I am caucasion, but to me there is only the human race.
I was not raised to see color and I do not see it.
I see a great golfer, young, handsome, bright, from a
very good family with a good future ahead of him. Will there be a line of little Tigers
for us to buy!! I liked hearing where the name Tiger
came from. Good Patriots, too!! I gues it was good for
someone like me to hear the history of blacks in golf.
I did not realize this. I was raised in a small town
in Kentucky and cried my eyes out on my first day of
school when I found out my best friend, a neighbor girl,
was not allowed to go to my school. She cried too.

Because of this I got the chance to play the game I now love. Tiger's victory will open many new doors for future golfers throughout the country. Golf is no longer a no name sport, it is now one of the biggest name sports. A new era of Golf has just begun, and it will never be the same again.

Hi Tiger, I think that you were great on the weekend at the Masters Golf Tournament. I have been a big fan of yours since you won the Amateurs three years in a row. I know all the records that you now have. It was a good thing that you won because you were the only golfer there that earned the green jacket. I watched the four days of the tournament on T.V, in the first round you were not playing up to your game. In the next three days you played like you can. Good Luck in the FUTURE

I was very, very pleased to see the young brotha have such a tremendous
victory in a sport that has
historically been so racist. His talent is noteworthy particularly because of his age, but I also think that being a person of color is having a major impact too, whether he wants it to or not. I'm really not even a golf fan, but he captured my attention. He's a dynamic young man and I wish him continued success.

phenom who is taking the world of golf by storm. If he
can tame Augusta at 21, one can only wonder what his
future accomplishments will be. I am in awe of this
young man's focus and discipline at such a youthful
age. I greatly look forward to seeing him in the fu-
ture. He's made me an unlikely golf fan! Go Tiger!

I saw Tiger's last 13 holes VERY early this morning Australian time. He is just too good for words. From where I watched the masters unfold I can truly repeat the poem
"Tiger, Tiger, burning bright
In the darkness of the night..."
I hope you Americans all look after him.

Wow. Has there ever been such a dominating display of golf in a major championship? Never has one made the best players in the world look so inadequate. His charisma and enthusiasm are what golf needs after watching Daly fall into old habits, and Norman gift-wrapping last year's Masters to Faldo. (Incidentally, I bet few people are as happy about this as Greg. He can be removed from the glare of the spotlight.)
Some say he is cocky. I think an athlete of his caliber has to have an unshakable belief in themself to perform at such a high level. Such an attitude can give a player an edge even before the first ball is struck. (Ask Tom Lehman about that).
If I could give Tiger a good word of advice, it would be to keep his center. Everyone wants a piece of the young man, and to politely say no is not a crime. Keep the game fun. After all, it is without a doubt, the greatest game man ever invented.

I'm a motivational speaker who speak through "words" to motivate people. Tiger Woods was a "great" motivator today through his ACTION. HE WAS SIMPLY TERRIFIC!!!! He is extremely mature for a 21 year old. He is a tremendously fine ROLE MODEL.

I played Varsity golf in High School, thought about trying out for IU, and to see someone close to my age play professional golf, it just excites me so much. And growing up with Fuzzy, you know that golf is apart of my life. I want to congratulate Tiger and when he comes to Lousiville, KY! I will be there cheering him on!

Outstanding! Iam very proud and happy for the young
phenomenal "Tiger Woods", he is a credit to himself and the power of what one does accomplish with a determined Mind.
Many have said that he is a boy among men. Tiger is an Legend among humans.
And will inspire spirit in others to reach heights obtainable. I wish him continued success in all endeavors.

Devotion to his family is just one more reason he is such a good role model . I hope he always keeps setting high standards for us, both on the course and off!

(comments) We are lucky to have Tiger as our inspiration. Maybe some heads can finally be turned in the right direction. The burdens of mistrust and alienation are more than ready to be shed. Tiger can be a catalyst. But for the present, he is the sportsman, not the politician. If he is invited to the White House, I hope he will respectfully decline, as the ceremonial value of such an appearance is obscure at the moment. The Green Jacket is sufficient.

I think it's great that Tiger has really proved himself now by winning the Masters so HUGE. I picked him as a winner while listening to others saying that they did not think he was "ready." HA. Can't wait to rub it in tomorrow. While some are thinking Grand Slam, I am wondering how MANY Grand Slams he has potential to win at his age.
I attribute Tiger's power to be in the adult mental training from his green barrett Father, who also etched a picture of a good golf swing into Tiger as a baby.
Tiger is sooo good that I fear he will be "taken away" like other greats: Bobby Jones, James Dean, Buddy Holly, and JFK. I hope this will never happen, and I hope that we will witness for the next four decades a triumphant walk down legendary lane.
I also hope that Tiger chooses a "path" that pleases him the most and so that he can enjoy his life and not simply give it away for only others to enjoy.
Go get em Tiger.

(comments) I, personally, aren't a huge golf fan but my family is and I enjoy watching it. See, this is because I am a gymnast and gymnastics and golf are two totally different sports. But still, Tiger Woods is a role model for me and many other kids across the world. I think that is because of his determination and drive and natural love for the game. Gymnastics takes a lot of ups and downs mentally along with physically but it helps you to keep on going strong when you see someone as mentally tough as Tiger. He shows you can beat the odds no matter what the dream just has to be strong enough.

I just wanted to let you know that I like your web page. I've never played golf, I'm not African-American, and I didn't know very much about Tiger (except from glancing at a few magazines and hearing a bit about him on the news) until I got sucked into watching the Masters today. My roommate was kind enough to give me all of the possible details about Tiger, his family, his game, and even his caddy. He's incredible! He's an excellent role-model and superior athlete. You've done a great job on this page!

I think Tiger is one of the best things to come along in golf since
a young Jack N. began going head to head with Arnie those
many years ago. He is exciting to watch and he has one of the
most picture perfect swings I have ever seen. I think
he deserved to win today and the fact that he set 7 records
for the Masters just ices the cake.

He proved to me that if there is motivation with strong will, one can acheive anything. I admire him for his concentration and confidence.
I hope he will win more games for years to come. Also, wish best of luck for him and his family.
Onc more, congratulations, Tiger! I love you and I'm so happy for you.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer person. Even leading the game, when the ball didn't go as he wanted, he was upset. How could he handle all the pressure?
To break so many records at the Masters April 13, 1997 will definitely go down in history.

Tiger is the man!!! Not only is he the youngest player
to ever win a Master's Championship, but he also
broke many big time records this weekend. He has
deffinately proven to the world that he is the hero of
golf and will show that even more in the future!
When all people were saying that he couldn't do it,
Tiger stepped in and showed them what he was
made of! I know I admire him for that and I am sure
that you do to.

I think that Tiger Woods is the best. Not necesarily
because of his golfing ability, but because of his mind. It's one thing to play like that, but the way he handles himself, it's unreal. In a way I kinda feel sorry for him. Take the Masters for example. There was way too much pressure on him. Everybody there followed him around. The poor kid doesn't have a childhood. Most kids his age are in college at parties. I am sure that it doesn't bother Tiger though, I know that if I was that good, I wouldn't care
if people followed me around. Thanks Tiger.

I first wanted to tell you what a great page you have. Also, I should include, that at first, I did not like Tiger. I thought that he was a show off. After watching him at the Masters this weekend, I noticed a different side to him. I now respect him, and I respect what he does. He is totally changing the rules for golf. This is what all golfers should be trying to do.

(comments) Great Job Tiger! I've watched him for a long time, and this is the first time I've seen so much confidence. He hit iron shots and you could see on his face that the ball was going to be pin high. Another thing, Tiger is really making an impression on young children. Everyone says that he is a great role model for young black kids. But he is my role model too, and I'm white. Personally, I've never seen him as anything more than just a normal golfer, except that he is a normal golfer that woops the pants off of all the other normal golfers. Way to go man, and by the way, you look good in green.

Congradulations on the Master's Championship, the
green jacket looks very good on you. I am very proud
of you. 1st. as a farher/parent. It warms me inside
to to how well your parents have raised you and more
importantly your sincere pride and deep love &
respect you have for your mom and dad and for not
being embaressed to show them even in public. 2nd
because your dedication and hard work and your
ability to accept consuling and ongoing
training/learning of the game & profession you have
chossen as your career. Many (not all young people
either) decide to raised themselves above everyone
around them and take on a cocky, superior and
ungrateful position/attitude to their fans, their
parents, those who help them acheive what they have
and most important they forget that this all came
from their God.
3rd, last be certainly not least, you are a true,
from the heart, live & real American. I have read
your satement to the press refering to their
questions about you ancestry. Your answer is one
that all true & real americans believe in their
hearts. "Ethnic background is not what you are but
where you decended from, that in fact you are an
american".
I have never been able to understand who or WHY
anyone would come up with African-American,
Asian-American, Native or Latin-American or in my
case Scotish, English, Irish, Frence, Indian, AND
HILLBILLY-American. We are Americans one and all.
Your parents I know are very proud of your and they
would still be proud of you even if you had not Won
the Masters. I know you are proud of them. This is
evident in many statements and actions and was very
evident today when you searched them out first and
you held on to them and listen with respect to them
in this very happy and important event in your life,
you still had time for them.
I say all this to you because you are the hero we
americans really want look up too and because I to
have a son that I am very proud of (a former soccer
player now bike racer and team trainer student) and I
truely understand them feelings you and you father
exchanged today in your long hug. Those were real
tears of happiness and I know you said a prayer of
thanks to God that your dad was here to share this
with you.
For what it is worth, I too am very proud of you, as
a brand spankin new fan, a friend, an american and
most of all as a father/parent.
May God always bless you and all of your's, forever.
