I thought that he would just put the ball safely in play after Tom Lehman put his ball in the water. But he didn't and that is what makes him such an exciting golfer to watch. That was one of the best golf shots I've ever seen!!!!! I can't wait until we see what else he will do in the future!!!! He definetely deserved the Sports Illustrated Athlete of The Year!!!!!!!!!!

I WAS HOSPITALIZED OCTOBER OF 95 WITH LEUKEMIA AND REMAINED IN A ROOM FOR WEEKS AT A TIME. IT DAWNED ON ME THAT I REALLY NEEDED SOMETHING MORE THAN JUST WORK IN MY LIFE. MY WIFE AND I DECIDED THAT I PLAY SOME GOLF AND SEE HOW I LIKED IT. I SHOULD LET YOU KNOW THAT I COULD NOT BEAR TO WATCH GOLF ON T.V. MUCH LESS PLAY THE SPORT. SO MY UNCLE, WHO PLAYS REGULARLY, TOOK ME OUT TO A RANGE AND AS SOON AS I HIT MY FIRST SHOT I FELL IN LOVE, LIKE SO MANY OTHERS. THE GREAT THING WAS I HAD A NATURAL SWING. I WATCHED MANY GOLFERS, VIDEO TAPED THEM AND MYSELF, AND LITERALLY TAUGHT MYSELF HOW TO PLAY THE SPORT. I LATER BEGAN HEARING THE NAME "TIGER" AND WATCHED HIM AS WELL, HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO WATCH HIM AT THE OLDSMOBILE CLASSIC IN ORLANDO, FL. AND BECAME FASCINATED WITH HIS STYLE OF PLAY, DETERMINATION, AND DEDICATION AS WELL. THAT SAME WEEKEND I CAME ACROSS A WONDERFUL COUPLE. IT WAS CHARLES OWENS, WHO PLAYED ON THE SENIOR TOUR AND HIS BEAUTIFUL WIFE. I TALKED TO HIM BRIEFLY, GAVE ME HIS AUTOGRAPH AND HM #. HE GAVE ME THE NAME OF A GOLF PRO WHO COULD WORK WITH TO TAKE ME TO THE NEXT LEVEL. AND HE DID. HIS NAME IS MICH AEL COOPER IN TAMPA, FL. WHO IS A VERY PATIENT PERSON AND A WONDERFUL HUMAN BEING. THE STORY IS LONG AND COULD BE LONGER BUT THE POINT IS THAT TODAY, 6 MOS. LATER, I HAVE SHOT 90 IN ONLY 5 FULL 18 HOLES, PLAY DAY AND NIGHT, HAVE A WIFE WHO SUPPORTS ME AND PLAN TO PLAY PROFESSIONALLY WHEN THE TIME COMES. MANY PEOPLE HAVE INSPIRED ME AND IF IT WAS NOT FOR THE FACT THAT I WENT TO GO WATCH TIGER THAT FRIDAY MORNING, THEN I WOULD NOT HAVE MET SO MANY WONDERFUL PEOPLE WHO HAVE TAUGHT TO PLAY AND ENJOY THE GAME THAT SO MANY OTHERS LOVE.
THANKS TO ALL THE WONDERFULL PEOPLE WHO INSPIRED ME TO PLAY AND THOSE WHO TOOK THE TIME TO HELP. AND CONGATS TO TIGER FOR THE BEGINNING OF A VERY LONG AND REWARDING CAREER.
Tiger is really talented. America should take note, not only on his golfing ability but also on his family lifestyle and his wonderful upbringing. I look forward to seeing more of this beautiful, young man. I never watched golf before, but since Tiger came into the picture I can't get enough of it or him!!!

I would just like to say that you have a great, and accurate web page, something I bookmarked and look at frequently. I would just like to say that Tiger Woods has the complete package. He probably will be the next Nicklaus, but he has more charisma, and an aura that seems to glow around him. I have been in many golf tournaments,but the tournament that you won against Tom Lamane was very good. My dad owns a golfcourse in Eau Claire Wisconsin, but it is hard to golf in the winter though this year I'm going to go to the State Open. There may have been two great football games played today, but the best play of the day was a 21 year old man named tiger winning the first PGA stop for the year of 1997 and I saw it Live. If I never have the pleasure of meeting the man I can at least say I saw the man who has truely inspired me to belive that "Second place does suck!"
God Bless Tiger Woods and what he has brought to the game golf, a game that so many will probly never have the oppertunity to see, understand or ever play!
