Lightning today had the most challenging game of the season against a strong Fireballs that were in search to another victory today to bring the Lads of Chenes up few point in the table. Lightning had to win if they wanted to stay in the battle for the first few places. A very nice a well fought game for both teams. The presuure of the Lightning of the first half paid off for the rest of the game. Several threathning chances were missed within the first 15 minutes were shots and crosses were well managed by Fireballs's defenders but in around the fifteen minute a ball rebounded back to the 18 yard line where Julian on half volley striked it with the left foot and is beatiful shot went high in the far right near the cross bar inpossible for any attempt of the keeper to save. Fireballs attacked back and with 7 minutes tied the score again from a corner kick that found a confusion struggle in the box were several Fireballs players were left unmarked by the Lightning's defender and a big error that let Firabells level the score at 1-1. Lightning kept attacking a minute later from a corner a shot of Bucky and later TJ went high within inches from target. Three minutes before the half another attempt of Lightning from the left where TJ to a long shot but was halted by the arm of a Fireballs defender in the box. PK awarded and TJ himself finalise it with a well precise shot to the left.
On the interval the lads were reminded to play a man to man marking and to never let the Fireballs break away if they wanted to keep the score in their favor. Fireballs and Lightning had numerous chances to score at both ends but excellent saves from both keepers prevented any more goals. Both squads played a beautiful game with both teams having equal talents and the final result demostrated that each team can measure each other. Next saturday games for both team should be a relieve and a time for improving on certain unfinished tasks.
