Chess Links
Here is a list of my favourites.
Chess Servers
Chess.net is one of the best FREE chess servers around. It may not be as famous as FICS or ICC, but there are certainly no lack of strong and especially notable chess masters. GM Christiansen and GM Elhvest are but two of the many "GM regulars" there. Of course, that is my favourite chess playing site. Visit their homepage at chess.net.
FICS is a free chess server and certainly boost of many worthy chess players to compete with.
If you want to try it out, click on FICS .
ICC is also one of the best, though it is not free. ICC is good; it just cost a small fee per year. Check out the details at internet chess club.
Chabalang
Chess has taken a very important part of my life, as you can gauge from the percentage of chess related content in this Homepage!
Thankfully though, there are things still things that I love doing that have no connections with chess, and I hope to share them with you.
[I named this ection "Chabalang" as that is a local phrase meaning a very extensive mix of different things. Apt eh?]
I enjoy sports like cycling, table tennis, volleyball and badminton. Football and basketball too, though I prefer watching the experts at work rather than dabble in them myself.
Computer games got me hooked since I was in Secondary One ( 13 years old ). My elder sister bought the first PC in our household. Pre-saved in the PC were the games Romance of Three Kingdoms by Koei and Tetris. And ever since, I became an advent follower of strategy games like the classic Warlords and later the real time strategy games from Blizzard.
Simulators are a close second. My favourite is the MechWarrior series by Activision. It was really sad to hear that Activision will not be continuing the series. Lets hope the new software developer FASA can better the standards set by Activision.
I am a science fiction fan. Among my favourite authors are Issac Asimov, Robert Siverberg, Michael A. Stackpole, and Alan Dean Foster. Star Wars series of books and Asimov's robot stories captivates me the most.
I also delve into other realms of fiction like detective, fantasy, fairy tales, love and war stories. Agatha Christie, Enid Blyton Tom Clancy, John Grisham, Jeffrey Archer, Jean M. Auel ( I still cannot find her 5th earth children book),Paulo Coelho, Robert Charles Wilson and Amy Tan are clear favourites.
Non-fiction favourites includes auto-biography by Albert Speer, EQ by Daniel Goleman, and Judgement Calls by John C. Mowen.

Prepare yourselves for some really weird and sometimes egoistic dreams. If you have any private fantasies that you would like to share, do email them to me. Explicit and abusive emails are not welcome though.
Have you ever imagine how good it will be if you have three, just three, wishes? I am not that greedy; I would not use my last wish to wish for 100 more wishes! Apart from being wrong, I don't want to test the genie's patience!
If I have 3 wishes, I will wish that everyone in this world will all become morally just people. I would really like to have the woman of my dreams accepts my love. And finally, I would like it very much if my chess skills in all facets will be given such a tremendous boost that I will be a match for the best chess player or program around. I would not want to be invincible in chess because if I were to have no worthy opponent, I can easily imagine myself giving chess up.
I am an undergraduate studying at the National Unversity of Singapore, majoring in Chemistry. Do make a trip down to NUS Chemistry Department for some interesting developments.

Other eye-catching chemistry websites are available too.
Local sitcoms like channel 5's Under One Roof and channel 8 's Be Happy are worth more than just a few good laughs.
Friends, Seinfeld, Mad About You and Fraser are pretty funny too. My friends and I always get a good laugh when we hear Joey and Chandelar shout, "Keep them running!" whenever they watch Baywatch.
Favourite movies are Tootsie starring Dustin Hoffman, Dead Poets Society starring Robin WIliiams, Star Wars Trilogy and Indiana Jones series by George Lucas, Full Monty, Kindergarden Cop and many others.
Movies with a good story line, coupled with excellent acting skills, attracts me most. Big budget films with a strong cast and good visual effects is worth little if the story sucks.

The main purpose of this section is to provide not only news to NYJC chess club members/ex-members but also to serve as a forum to discuss how to make our Chess Club grow.
The EXCO for 98/99 is as follows:
A big welcome to the new committee! I wish you all the best in raising chess awareness in and out of school.
I have been coaching for a few months at the club. If club members have any comments concerning my teaching methods, please email me. Chess questions are of course welcome too. My replies will be posted under CDE portion ASAP.
