Dark Sentinel's
Jonny Quest Mailing List Help Guide
This page will serve as a guide for you and other Questors to use when you join the Mailing List(s). There are several commands that Majordomo takes that will allow you to find out more about the list, and will overall help you as a member.
I will list a few general rules that apply when writing to any Majordomo:
GENERAL RULES
- All of the commands to Majordomo that I will list here should be put in the BODY of the message. Putting any command in the Subject line will be useless. Anything at all in the Subject line is ignored by Majordomo.
- Multiple commands can be processed by Majordomo, provided that each occurs on its own line. For example:
info jq
index jq
lists
- Send the commands to either: majordomo@edc.ml.org for the jq (main) list, majordomo@maison-otaku.net for the quest (Quest Refugees) list, or majordomo@stargame.dyn.ml.org for the jqbackup (fanfiction) list.
- This guide is by no means complete. I only included the commands that I felt were important. See the 'help' command below to receive a more comprehensive list.
Confused? Stop here and e-mail me your question. If not, keep going!
THE COMMANDS
The examples below are sample command lines written for the Quest Refugees list. If you would like to use these for the edc.ml.org list, simply substitute "jq" in place of "quest". Use "jqbackup" for the fanfiction list.
- subscribe quest
- Subscribe yourself to the named list.
- unsubscribe quest
- Unsubscribe yourself from the named list.
- info quest
- Receive by e-mail the general introductory information sent to new users.
- intro quest
- Receive by e-mail the general introductory message sent to new users.
- who quest
- List all members of the named list.
- help
- This command will retrieve for you a more comprehensive guide for help than this.
- end
- If you have an e-mail server like Hotmail, or Yahoo!, this command is very useful. Use this command at the end of your other commands, and the Majordomo will stop reading at the word. If you do not use this, it may try to use the signature of your e-mail as a command, and will return to you a help guide.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
I receive many letters from people having trouble subscribing to any of the lists. The following tips and guidelines should help. If you continuously have trouble, please e-mail me your question, and I will try to help. Keep in mind, however, that I am no tech expert, and may not be able to solve the problem. Please be patient, and I will do the best I can.
