Richard Pitts was a renowned marksman whom family legend describes as having shot a wild turkey from a tree a quarter mile away. He was also sought out by local farmers at hog killing time to shoot their pigs, which were allowed to roam free at that time.

It has not been conclusively proven that Wm. F. is the son of Richmond Cooper. This needs further research to clarify. Wm. F. and his wife Sarah J. Jenkins were found in the 1850 Calloway Co., KY, census living with Sarah's parents. They had a 6 month old baby (Mary) also living with them (family #387-387).

Notes

A Sarah Price appeared on a list of pensioners for Marshall Co., KY in 1882. She was listed as pension #95571 for $8.00 per month, beginning in June of 1867. It is not known if this Sarah Price is Sarah Crice Price (#1165), but it probably is. Sarah's mother was a Moore, from Graves Co. KY. Sarah's parents, according to Orman Price, were considered wealthy and had several slaves (which he freed at the beginning of the Civil War). Sarah's mother was from Graves Co. near Old Hickory, & had at least 2 boys & 5 girls.
