Poisonous Plants
Toxic Houseplants
That give rash after contact with skin or mouth:
Chrysanthemum, Creeping fig, Weeping fig, Poinsettia, Pot mum, Spider mum
B. That are irritating to mucus membranes; the mouth
especially gets swollen; painful tongue; sore lips:
Arrowhead vine, Boston ivy, Collodium, Drunk cane,
Emerald duke, Philodendron, Marble queen, Majesty, Neththytis ivy, Pathos, Red princess.
C. That may contain a wide variety of poisons. Most
cause vomiting, abdominal pain, cramps. Some cause tremors, heart and respiratory and/or kidney problems:
Amaryllis, Asparagus fern, Azalea, Bird of Paradise, Creeping Charlie, Crown of thorns, Elephant ears, Glocal ivy, Heart ivy,
Jerusalem cherry, Needlepoint ivy, Pot mum, Ripple ivy, Spider mum, ivy, Springier fern, Umbrella plant.
OUTDOOR PLANTS WITH TOXIC EFFECTS
A. Outdoor plants that produce vomiting and diarrhea
in some cases:
Delphinium, Daffodil, Castor bean, Indian turnip,
Skunk cabbage, Poke weed, Bittersweet woody, Ground cherry, Foxglove, Larkspur, Indidan tobacco, Wisteria, Soapberry
B. Trees and shrubs that are poisonous and my produce
vomiting, abdominal pain and in some cases, diarrhea:
Horse chestnut, Buckeye, Rain tree, Monkey pod, American yew, English yew, Western yew, English holly, Privet, Mock orange, Bird of paradise, Black locust, Apricot, almond, Peach, cherry, Wild cherry, Japanese plum, Balsam pear.
C. Outdoor plants with varied toxic effect:
Rhubarb, Spinach, Sunburned potatoes, Buttercup, Nightshade, Poison hemlock, Jimsonweed, Moonseed, Mayapple, Dutchman's breeches, Tomato vine, Locoweed, Lupine, Dologeton, Pigweed, Water hemlock, Mushrooms, Mescal bean, Angel's trumpet, Jasmine, Matrimony vine.
D. Hallucinogens:
Marijuana, Morning glory, Nutmeg, Periwinkle, Peyote,
Locoweed
E. Outdoor plants that produce convulsions:
Chinaberry, Coriaria, Moonweed, Nux vomica, Water hemlock
