Noah Thomason & Elizabeth Croft

Noah THOMASON was chr Sep 7 1811 in Leigh Lancashire,
the 'base' son of Margaret THOMASON.

Elizabeth CROFT, known as Betsy,
was born Nov 5 1819 in Atherton Lancashire.
She was christened Dec 8 1819 at the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Bedford,
the daughter of John CROFT & Sarah MARSLAND.

At the time of their marriage,
the groom and Betsy's father were listed as 'nailers' for their occupation
and as residing in Atherton.

No details at all were given for Noah's father
since he was an illegitimate child at birth.
Consequently, any ancestry going back beyond Noah THOMASON
would be on his mother Margaret's side only.

Noah & Betsy had 7 children :

1) Sarah born Feb 2 1841 in Atherton Lancashire

Sarah married 1st to Giles ECKERSLEY on Jun 26 1865 at Tyldesley Chapel
(Tyldesley Chapel was also a part of Countess of Huntingdon's New Connexion chapels)
Giles died Jul 6 1871 at the age of 29 yrs in a mining accident
when coal fell on him at the Sovereign Pit at Pickley Green Westleigh Lancashire.

Sarah married 2nd to John PARTINGTON abt 1875
Sarah had a total of 7 children = 3 daughters & 4 sons

2) Margaret b abt 1843 in Atherton

3) Noah b abt 1846 in Atherton
married Margaret BEDFORD in 1885

4) John abt 1848 in Atherton Lancashire
married Esther TICHBORNE in 1878
In 1871 Census, John, collier, is a lodger with sister Sarah & Giles ECKERSLEY

5) Mary b abt 1851 in Atherton
6) William b abt 1858 in Atherton

7) Betsy b abt 1860 in Atherton
As of the 1881 Census, William and Betsy were still living at home.


Noah THOMASON and Elizabeth (Betsy) CROFT were my 3X GR grandparents !!
