Jewish Homeschooling Curricular Materials

Jewish Homeschooling Support

JHEN publishes a quarterly networking newsletter and has subscribers/contributors from around the world and from many levels of Jewish observance. They also offer phone and e-mail support. Information on subscribing can be found at their web site.

The Chevra Jewish Homeschooling E-mail List was formed in June 1998. Several other mailing lists for Jewish homeschoolers can be found at Onelist by searching on "Jewish homeschooling". There is also a list specifically for Torah-observant Jewish homeschoolers at Shamash.org; to subscribe, look for the Torch-d list on their "list of lists".

Judaic and Hebrew Curriculum

There are several publishers of Jewish/Hebrew educational materials. Most of their materials are aimed at either the afterschool religious school or Hebrew day school market, but the materials are adaptable to homeschool situations.

  • Behrman House has resources for Jewish/Hebrew education. They have a school catalog with curriculum for preschool through high school.
  • A second source for excellent materials ranging from preschool level on up is Torah Aurah Productions.
  • A.R.E. Publishing also has some wonderful materials.
You can order or request a catalog from these companies at their web sites. Torah U'Mesorah also carries a line of Jewish educational materials. They do not currently have a web site, but you can request a catalog by calling or writing them directly:

We have the Learnables tapes in Hebrew and have found them helpful for our aural learners.
