Jewish Organizations

United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. The governing body of the Conservative movement in the United States. Links to many member synagogues, the Jewish Theological Seminary, the League of Conservative Jewish Women, and other branches of Conservative Judaism.
Jewish Communications Network. Very nice page with broad range of topics. Family & Living online newsletter is one of their projects.
World Zionist Organization Students and Academics Department A little off-the-wall at times, but interesting. Biblical tour of Israel; Holidays with a Twist; Hebrew phrases.
Jewish Agency for Israel and World Zionist Organization. A lot of Israel-related topics as well as other things. As of 31 August 1998, this site was being redesigned.
CAJE. Coalition for the Advancement of Jewish Education. Articles, information about their annual conference, curriculum materials.
Union for Traditional Judaism. An organization of lay people, educators, talmudic scholars, cantors, and rabbis dedicated to the principles of traditional Judaism and an open-minded observant lifestyle.
Jewish Appleseed. A liberal organization, information on Judaism and interfaith understanding. Very attractive site.
Synagogue 2000. Transdenominational organization helping synagogues plan for the 21st century. Prayer, institutional change, study, good deeds, ambiance, and healing.

Jewish Prayers: The Transliterated Siddur The complete Friday evening and Saturday morning services in transliteration. Daily blessings and blessings for meals now added. Okay to print out for personal study - for other uses, be sure to read copyright and usage information.
A reading list on topics related to Conservative Judaism, including history, practice, and belief.
List of the 613 Mitzvot This list is based on Maimonides' list with reference to other sources. Each mitzvah has relevant biblical citations.
OU Homesite. A variety of resources, but especially Torah Tidbits, a discussion of the weekly Torah reading from an Orthodox/Israeli point of view.
Torah from Dixie. Commentary on the weekly Torah readings (archived for the last couple of years).
Weekly Parashah commentary. From Chancellor Schorsch at the Jewish Theological Seminary; subscription information and archives.
Project Genesis. "Torah on the Information Superhighway." A site for serious Jewish study. A weekly parshah discussion, email "Ask the Rabbi", email classes to join on a variety of Jewish topics.
Virtual Beit Midrash. From Yeshivat Har Etzion; yeshiva-style lessons in Torah and Judaism, open to students of all ages via the internet and e-mail.
MAQOM - A School for Adult Talmud Study. Founded and directed by Rabbi Judith Abrams. On sabbatical until July 1999.
Joint Authority for Jewish Zionist Education. Again, a tremendous amount of stuff with an educational (lesson-plan) focus. Daily mishnah and weekly parashah.
Learner's Minyan. "A friendly place to ask about Jewish synagogue ritual, the prayer book, and related traditions." Also some fun stuff.
Chabad Daily Torah Study Center. Monthly interactive calendar; daily, weekly study ideas; e-mail subscriptions possible.
UAHC Department of Education. Some interesting material, including Table Talk for each parashah (stories and discussion questions), a Curriculum Bank where teachers share lesson plans on a variety of Jewish topics, and a list of sites for Jewish Education.
Torah Portions. Sort of an online Tikkun containing Torah text with vowels and trope and as it appears in a Torah scroll. Translations and trasliterations are also available, as well as audio files with the Torah trope.
Torah discussions via e-mail. We have started a couple of e-mail lists devoted to discussion of the weekly Torah readings. One is geared toward beginners to Torah study; the other has no restrictions.
