1/2 shortening | 2 Tbsp. light molasses |
3/4 cup sugar | 1/2 tsp. cinnamon |
1 egg | 1/2 tsp. nutmeg |
2 cups baking powder | 1/8 tsp. ground cloves |
1/2 tsp. salt | 3/4 cup milk |
1 Tbsp. melted butter | 1/4 cup brown sugar |
2 Tbsp. walnuts, chopped | 1/2 tsp. cinnamon |
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Stir in baking powder, salt & milk. Divide half of the batter into a separate bowl. To one of the bowls, add molasses, cinnamon, nutmeg & cloves. Fill muffin cups with half of each of the batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Mix together all ingredients for topping and sprinkle over warm muffins.
