2 lbs. beef stew meat cut in 1-inch cubes |
1/4 cup all-purpose flour |
2 Tbsp. cooking oil | 1 10 3/4-ounce can condensed cream of mushroom soup |
1/2 cup dry sherry | 1 1 1/2-ounce envelope stroganoff sauce mix |
1 Tbsp. instant mushrooms, drained |
1/2 cup dairy sour cream |
Toss beef cubes with flour to coat. In large skillet, brown meat in hot cooking oil. Drain off excess fat.
Combine soup, sherry, dry stroganoff sauce mix, & instant minced onion; stir into meat along with mushrooms. Turn mixture into a 2-quart casserole. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees till meat is tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Stir in sour cream. Serve over hot cooked white or brown rice, if desired. Serves 6 to 8 people.
