Our field trip was an all day event. There were over 10 adults and over 25 in all. Some of us met at the
church and pooled all the way down. A few met us
down there.
Our tour was scheduled for 12:30 pm and lasted only half
an hour. They showed us the room, the broadcast
room , the huge cafeteria, amongst other things.
Their radio program is heard daily on approximately 4200 radio facilities all over the .
After the tour, we were on our own and went to their
turn-of-the-century soda fountain area. There we ate , chips and drank sodas. Then we all hung out at the
Kidz Korner where the kids played for almost 3 hours! They showed s, had a 3-story slide, playground type of things to play on, a B17 bomber
to play on. The
kids ran around and had a great time!
By this time a few families had gone home. Some
returned by 6:30pm in order to see the live radio broadcast of a showing of The Adventures in Odyssey.
They were celebrating their 10-year anniversary.
Normally the tapings are done in California. Those
of us who were left pooled and went to get some
dinner.
We returned right at 6:30pm. The auditorium held 1500 people and by the time we got in there, we were like the 5th row from the back. That's how many people got there before us! The kids loved the broadcast and it was over by 8pm.
Most of us didn't see much of the taping because we were
too busy standing in line trying to take advantage of the huge sales they had on their t-shirts, , audio & video
tapes, etc. They ranged anywhere from 25%-75% off!
Great for Christmas presents!
All in all, everyone had a wonderful time. Most everyone didn't get till around 10-10:30pm but it was worth it.
There will be no field trip for the month of December. Please come back next year for January's field trip.
