Elvis was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on January 8th, 1935. Elvis' first million selling record was "Heartbreak Hotel." Elvis was the first rock and roll singer ever to appear on a United States postage stamp (Jan. 8th, 1993.) Elvis was named to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. "All Shook Up" stayed on the Billboard Top 100 chart for 30 weeks.
The Jungle Room in Graceland is decorated with a waterfall and Polynesian furniture that was purchased by Elvis. Elvis' last two albums were recorded at Graceland in the Jungle Room. The living room at Graceland contains Elvis' 15-foot sofa. Elvis bought Graceland for himself and his parents, Vernon and Gladys, in 1957. Graceland opened to the public for tours on June 7th, 1982. There are 13.8 acres at Graceland.
Elvis' grandmother, Minnie Mae Presley, lived at Graceland until her death. Graceland is located on Elvis Presley Boulevard. The built-in jukebox in the TV room at Graceland could play 100 singles.
