Nathaniel was born ca. 1794, possibly in RI or VT. On Joseph Brown's death certificate, Nathaniel Brown is listed as his father and E. Leland as his mother. My Joseph Brown and Rachael Ann Wilcox were married in Jennings Co, IN on 15 September 1850. The only Joseph Brown that I can find who is the right age on the 1850 census is living in Geneva Twp, Jennings Co, IN. Head of household was Nathaniel Brown, 57, farmer, born in R.I, with a Lydia, 56, born in VA, and a Joseph, 20, farmer, born in PA. In 1860, this Nathaniel is living in Spencer Twp, Jennings Co, IN, age 66, farmer, born in VT, with Lydia, age 60, born in MD.
Is this Nathaniel Brown really the father of Joseph Brown? Is Lydia his mother?
